Computer not sending signals
« on: May 25, 2010, 12:21:14 pm »

Well my computer is getting old and weird and not sending signals to the monitor or keyboard, until you switch them. Once you switch them it works perfectly for a few days, then you switch them back...this is tedious and was wondering if anyone had any solutions.

Do you live with anyone who might be screwing with you?

EDIT:
Does your computer have enough USB ports that you could buy a USB mouse and keyboard?

Yes that's what I did, but the USB fails after a few days so I plug the keyboard into a different slot and it works again.....computers don't have 2 slots for monitors do they?

When you say "switch them", what are you switching them with, and what exactly are you "switching"?

It's possible it's just that the cords are messed up, but honestly, it's hard to tell because I don't know what you're doing exactly.

physically switching the cables, one works for a while, then it doesn't, take it out, replace with another one, it works again, but then that one dies, so you switch with the one before and now the old one works again for a while.....anyway new computer so it doesn't matter much anymore.
