Raise my shield into a defensive position and take advantage of the temporary interruption to the crossbowmans ability to shoot in order to charge at him with my shield in front of me and shieldbash him. Try to disarm the guy if/when the shieldbashing is successful.

That rapid firing Chinese crossbow would be pretty cool for me to have. Maybe scavenge it for parts, or use it as part of something else.

Try and change the rest of the way, and if i succeed run in a zig-zag pattern towards the crossbow guy, dodging shots, then jump and smash into him with the force of the run.

You can scan for minds as a free action with no overshoot or epic failure, but you cant use mind magic in any turn you use this

LOL! At least the shield absorbed the impact, at the cost of a damaged shield. It'll give me a good excuse to use my tinker skills to craft a new shield, just have to look for some good metal parts first.

Walk over to the crazy guy (I'm a few feet from him probably) and smack him in the head with the damaged shield. Then toss the probably now unuseable shield aside and grapple the insane guy if he didn't get defeated. If he did get defeated, then search through the supplies he was guarding/hoarding for anything of mechanical use.
