It seems you are finally figuring out that the reason peppers evolved uber-spiciness was to avoid being eaten by mammals.

And those little bastards never expected Buffalo Wings. Oh, natural selection, how we have subverted thee.

"Dilute" the salsa with the other, non-spicy ingredients such as the fruit (probably tomatoes I guess). You have a great opportunity here:

Wat.

Tomatoes are fruit.  They are the seed-bearing organ of the plant.  Specifically they are berries.

Simple way to tell if it is a fruit, vs if it's a vegetable.

If it has very little juice, it's a vegetable.
If it has a lot of juice, or at least a fair amount, it is a fruit.

Of course, this isn't completely true, but it is generally.

If it tastes good, its either fruit or corn.

Pretty sure the actual definition is seeds = fruit, no seeds = not fruit, although there are exceptions (for example, bananas *used* to have seeds, until we bred them to stop, and thus are still considered fruit).  However, the actual working definition used by most people seems to be sweet = fruit, not sweet = not fruit (hence why tomatoes are a common source of confusion).  For example, by said "official" definition, cucumbers are fruit.  I suspect most people wouldn't agree with me immediately on that if that was all I told them.

Corn, I think, is a grain, since we're eating the seedheads (like how wheat is basically the grass seeds).  And then there's nuts and beans and things, but this'll get you a decent way.

I always thought it was what form the plant takes, vegetables are when the edible part is the entire part, (usually minus the roots) for example carrots, cucumbers, potatos. They all grow in the ground and are more or less the entire plant. Anyway, I'm willing to bet this is one of those silly subjective things like the definition of animal (I go with the scientific one).

So let me get this straight...
1: You decided to make salsa
2: You found out the first batch of salsa was so incredibly hot the acid in it started burning your hand
3: YOU DECIDED TO MAKE A SECOND BATCH OF IT?  :o

This is the dwarven method, yes. If it's too much, make more.

If it's annual or biennial it's vegetable, if it's seed-bearing part of a perennial plant it's fruit. Yes, some things such as grapevine leaves are neither.

Pure Capsaicin is 16,000,000 Scovilles.
Pepper Spray is 5,000,000 Scovilles.
The Bhut Jolokia Pepper gives 1,000,000 Scovilles each.

I think you know what to do from here.

Blair's 16 Million reserve, one grain in a gallon of water is known to make full grown men cry, blair himself put  grain on his toune, he suffered injury and couldn't speak for days, ADD A FULL BOTTLE NOW!

Or add magma if you want a weaker dish :P

Anyway, my point with the fruit (probably tomatoes) thing was because other fruit can make some pretty awesome salsa. My girlfriend made some peach salsa, a few times. Yum.

And I thought I ate pretty spicy food...so, you make this concoction that burns at the touch, and you're going to put it in your mouth and swallow it?
