This is actually the only way I play necrons. I build a stupid number of turrets, then load a bunch of flayed ones into my base. Then the lord teleports his way around the map til he finds an enemy base. Anything short of a full army and the flayed ones can pop up and trash the command center before the enemy can even react. If there's a second command center, simply repeat the same thing for it.

Yeah, happened to read about the "Flayed Spam" tactic on the wiki.  However, such quick game-ending strategies rarely appeal to me...  I like to slowly toy with my opponent, making a point of pinning them down while I gather up whatever resources the map has to offer.  Then I make a show of annihilating them through vastly overwhelming and utterly unnecessary power.

Dawn of War has such awesome fights...

I've been toying with the idea of replaying Crysis up to the point when massed aliens show up(it becomes shit afterward) with no weapons and no melee. Only improvised thrown weapons allowed. It would make me use maximum strength more ofter then I did and would probably prove funny.

If you are feeling masochistic the play without cloaking as well(not for me thanks).

I managed to complete Final Fantasy 7 without using materia. 8 has the kinda-impossible "no-GFs", relying on limit spam, and 10 has No Sphere Grid and No Goddamn Anything Good Luck This Is Gonna Suck, but I haven't tried those.

Of course, theres Nuzlocke for Pokémon, which I'm doing on Fire Red.

Half Life 2 has various "gravity gun only" challenges. Both Left 4 Deads have achievements for limiting yourself to backup weapons.

Deus Ex without killing anyone isn't that hard. Max melee strength, baton, whip people to unconsciousness.

And don't forget the classic Ironman. No loading except after you quit. Or it crashes. What happens, stays happened. Still haven't managed ironman Fallout 1 or 2, though. Sometimes you just get unlucky, which is a kick to the proverbial balls.

... Yeah, I love self-imposed challenges.

Step 1: Activate strength.
Step 2: Pick up a washing machine/fridge/log.
Step 3: Activate speed.
Step 4: I'm the juggernaut, bitch!
Step 5: ???
Step 6: Profit!
Held objects have the mass of a neutron star to allow you to dislodge them if they are partially buried by other stuff, which results in them being deadly to the touch if you bump into people while holding them.

And yes, flayed one zerging is a very common tactic already.

Back on topic, Europa Universalis 3 HTTT unpatched, conquer the world by exclusively using spies and colonists. Hint: patriot rebels are your friends.

What?! My tactic! It has been stolen! Ah well, at least I can claim to be one of the first to do it, seeing as that has been my tactic since the game was released.

I tried this once. Don't. It's insane how much work you have to do to have a chance at winning even early boss fights.

Deus ex: Try not to kill except when absolutely necessary. Sometimes you can't help it, and it's frustrating to have to use the dart gun, riot prod, or baton when you could use the sniper rifle to get a quicker and quieter takedown, but it's what your brother would want.
Gas grenades. It's like giving them cigarettes.

The problem with gas grenades was it created little gas "whirls" that drifted around and if anyone stumbled into them they started coughing. That was great, except it caused massive alarm and didn't permanently, or sometimes even temporarily, disable an enemy. Plus if you walked into the gas you started taking torso damage fast. The whole advantage of non-lethal takedowns was supposed to be that they were silent, which meant stealth. There's no point in announcing your presence if you can't even get through the massed enemies because the gas cloud that's inconvenient to them is lethal to you.

I loved the dart gun though. If you could find some cover and slowly pick them off with a scoped crossbow you could do 100% non-lethal takedowns without ever taking a hit or even risking being seen. Twas great.

Trying to play Brabant in EU3 is also pretty bad. You start next to Burgundy, who has a claim on your most important province (out of 3), and if you keep lucky nations on historical, England and France won't start hindering them untill long after you've been flattend by them.

Morrowind:
No using the special merchants that can actually buy your glass / daedric / ebony / etc items.
No buying training from NPCs.
No vaccuuming the city, you can do it in the dungeon because you're never going back there, but not the plates and forks off of people's tables.
No perpetual save-and-load on skill checks. This prevents you from squeaking by on subpar skills. You just need to come back later!

Thief:
Ghosting. It means picking up every loot item and treasure without alerting any guards or knocking them out / killing them. It's acceptable to engage the first arousal level (hey, is something there? I should go take a look) but not the outright alert (hey, you there taffer! I'm gonna tear you up like we're at the bear pits!).

Fallout 1 and 2:
No stealing from shops. Pickpocket only when you have to for a quest or to get back something those bastard orphans stole.

Arcanum:
Turn-based combat (the realtime is outright impossible). Do not save in combat. This is a huge deal because you can coast through the game blasting people with molotovs at minimal Throwing skill, so long as you save and load between every throw. Without combat save-and-load, you have to actually spend skill points on combat stuff.

Neverwinter Nights:
Friendly Fire on, play any caster. This means you need to be careful about your area-effect spells.

Deus Ex 2:
Snap the disc in half and send it to the publisher with a note explaining that they should cut their wrists with it because it is such a shitty game (do not actually do this, they do not care that they are terrible).

Dwarf Fortress:
No shared rooms (like a mattress hall for everyone, not even a shared dining hall, except that spouses get to share quarters). No selling food or decorated items. All artifacts get put in a vault.

I did that up to Return to the Cathedral mission in Thief: Dark Project. It becomes impossible then because snatching The Eye makes all the undead immediately aware of you.

I made the rules slightly different. I hate looking for that last piece of loot so I just went for expert difficulty, no first level alerts(they never actually alter their patrol route to look for you - this also means no diversions). Oh yeah, spiders and burricks don't count because they are stationary and impossible to stealth by at several occasions.

I recommend this to anyone who is feeling nostalgic to the Thief series. Not only is it quite a challenge but it's also surprisingly fun, as if the game was meant to be played this way.

Have you tried throwing out a ton of meaningless guarantees and when you get attacked, annul them all for ZOMGWTF warscore? Assuming you have HTTT that is.

Rise of Nations is quite fun if you are using your peasants exclusively. I can beat one of the easy AI's with nothing but border pushing forts, towers and militia spam, multiple people doing it might be able to get a medium one.

The second one (IWBTG) isn't meant to be easy by any means, it's meant to be down right Hell in a handbasket. The first is meant to be a bit easier, but test the player. With proper character building it is possible, just not easy. I would reccomend playing a Breton Spellsword (sign shouldn't matter), and using a special potion brew of my own design. basically you'll want to make the basic armor as defensive as possible with as many as resisting enchants as possible, and use a shitton of poisons, and hindering spells (like paralyze, damage fatigue, and burden).

Go pure mage.  Spells stack, so casting multiple high duration shield spells is often way better than armor.  Conjuration allows 3 other distractions(which enemies seem to favor over you).  You can breeze through the game pretty much with subpar illusion and conjuration skills.  Step 1: Cast summons.  Step 2: Cast invisibility  Step 3: Run to enemies.  Step 4: Back away and wait for either the summons to kill enemies or vice versa.  Step 5: Repeat.  Heck most of the game is fetch quests, so you mainly just need invisibility.(Til the end, when you should have decent conjuration/destruction anyways)

There comes a time when you must take off the soft, furry slippers of a boy and put on the shoes of a man.
Unless of course they don't fit properly and your feet blister up like bubble wrap.
Oh ho ho, but don't try to return the shoes, because they won't take them back once you've worn them.
Especially if that fat pig Tony is at the desk.

The thing is, lasers are earth-based weaponry.  No alien technology is used in their construction.  This means craft laser cannons (for what that's worth) and laser defense modules in your base.  Unless you mean no research at all (aside from Avenger necessities), in which case it should be specified as such.

And you kinda have to sell off alien corpses and items, otherwise your stores will clog up and you won't be able to put anything else in there.  That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Kingdom Hearts, play through only using the Kingdom Key. I'm doing it in KH2, except for Synch Blade. So far, I'm only being stopped by Xaldin, but he's always hard.
Haven't tried it for the first one, but I'd guess it'd be harder, partly because most of Sora's MP comes from his equipped Keyblade. I've noticed from my current run that damage isn't much less than when I equip a stronger one.
