End of peace

The perfection of measuring tools marked the end of the economic research spree and a focus and more militaristic research focus. Measuring tools was a great discovery however and allowed every province to begin building an advanced road network allowing for faster marching and increased trade.

However not before utilitarianism was perfected, allowing for larger and more modern universaties.

The new province, had an important feature not present in any other provinces, a shipyard, the UP for so long had neglected its fleets, instead focusing on trade ships and if a fleet needed to be expanded, a brig, sloop or if lucky a fith rate.  Antwerp Allows the UP to begin building a proper fleet. It was quickly given funding to be expanded not allow larger and deadlier ships to be built.

Also in Flanders, was the formation of the Flanders Guard, these soldiers, previously part of the Spanish Garrison stationed in Brussels, were reluctant to leave the province, to many of them the province was home now, so in return for around 1k the Spanish agreed to let the soldiers expatriate themselves to the Dutch, from which the Flanders Guard was formed.

It wasn't long till the shipyard upgrades were complete and the first keels were laid down for a new Dutch flagship.

Finally in Autumn 1722, the main fleet was for the most part, fully reformed, The fleet now conisted of.

With the new military focus it was inevitable that war was coming, and as the Winter leading into 1723 began the United Provinces declared war on the Pueblo Nations in an effort to provoke the French.

However the French were unwilling to defend their allies, meaning the declaration was a partial failure. However the Caribbean Colonial Army made use of the war to gain a new colony in Texas, and the army landed and quickly marched on the Texas capital.

This battle would be the first battle in which dragoons would be used, these mobile troops could run at calvary speed and dismount to fight as a standard line infantry regiment.


The natives made like a bunch of blood thirsty barbarians and charged screaming at dutch lines.


Leaving their artillery open which was exploited by a unit of dragoons, which went about running up to them, dismounting, firing a salvo and routing the artillery, then hopping back on their horses and heading closer to the main battle to see what kinda trouble they could cause.



Back at the line a vicious Bayonet Vs axe battle was being waged.


However Dutch discipline routed the masses of native troops, though not without heavy casualties and one or two routed units.



Finally a salvo or two into the Native chief and the Pueblo Nations were defeated.

Thus the first colony on the American Mainland was founded.

Rise of America & War on Spain

In 1723 we received word that the citizenry of Charleston had revolted and declared independence, forming what they called. "The United States" A republic clearly influenced by the United Provinces. A military alliance has been formed...

In Texas, a fort has been built near a bridge that is the only major crossing for many miles.

Technology continues to advance, with new firing drills being the main focus, in addition, explosive shot has been traded for from the Prussians, giving us the ability to build Howitzers.

In 1724, not long after science the Alliance with the USA, we discovered they were at war with Spain. In another effort to provoke France, and to gain control of more Caribbean land. War was declared on spain. Venice and France joined them, as expected and hoped.

In India, the V.O.C. Army set sail for the French Colony on the Indian Mainland.

In Europe, the main army marched to Strasbourg, the French city was heavily garrisoned, and a victory here could very well mean the defeat of the French in Europe.

Sorry for small update, some things in life are bothering me and can't get in the mood.

Battle of Strasbourg

It wasn't long until the French Sallied...


They quickly went about charging their horse into Dutch lines, all of which were routed, abit with casualties.
Soon the french infantry began to march into musket range...


The cannons were soon firing canister shot, causing great casualties among the french on the right flank.


More french calvary charged the lines, one threatening to break through dutch lines, these were met by the Hussars whcih, with the infantry support, routed them.


After exchanging shots for some time, the French Swiss Guard, and most of their infantry in the are charged into melee range...


Aftera  long firefight and melee fight, the french on the Dutch Right broke, this caused a chain reaction and soon enough the entire french army was routing, Followed shortly by the french general after his bodyguards were shot at a few times by canister shot.


Victory.


Not long after victory, the army was ordered to begun training the infantry in new firing drills...
