Right guys since it looks like were gonna play the United Provinces lets set up how a republic is gonna play out.

For General playing and dealing with the micro management (Building + Most recruitment) As well as most army movements the Commander In Chief (I) will be in command. However the people (You) Have significant say on the growth of the Empire. 

For simplicities sake I will be using the Woman of Science type of voting. People make suggestions and the suggestions that get the most "This" or "Approved" or "The people agree with this" at the time I play out the next chapter will be put forward.

Almost everything can be suggested, from calling for military campaigns and declaration of wars, to expansion of the army & navy, to raising taxes, to abandoning provinces, anything.

Be warned that before calling for a war declaration on nearby minors that the garrison script (Gives line infantry in DM) means we can no longer just trounce without an actual army backing us up. 

Claiming Generals and Admirals:


Yes you can claim a General, just be warned that there's not much you can do with your claimed general or admiral as I will be doing the fighting, however you can suggest different tactics and I will try to work it in I guess.

I'd like to claim our starting americas general, IIRC, he should be in Curasomething(why did we give our colonies names with letters that aren't even used in our language?)

I also advice we take the the other half of guyana as quickly as possible*, that should give us a large amount of control over the trade theaters.

*after doing the no-brainer stuff like whacking the pirates.

Actually we don't have a General in America yet, we do have an Admiral though.

We have...

Two Generals in the Netherlands, one leading the garrison and one leading the army.

One General in Ceylon (leading a unit of VOC infantry)

One Admiral in Europe (Main fleet) And one admiral in America.

I'll probably end up raising a General in America anyways...
