Right guys since it looks like were gonna play the United Provinces lets set up how a republic is gonna play out.

For General playing and dealing with the micro management (Building + Most recruitment) As well as most army movements the Commander In Chief (I) will be in command. However the people (You) Have significant say on the growth of the Empire. 

For simplicities sake I will be using the Woman of Science type of voting. People make suggestions and the suggestions that get the most "This" or "Approved" or "The people agree with this" at the time I play out the next chapter will be put forward.

Almost everything can be suggested, from calling for military campaigns and declaration of wars, to expansion of the army & navy, to raising taxes, to abandoning provinces, anything.

Be warned that before calling for a war declaration on nearby minors that the garrison script (Gives line infantry in DM) means we can no longer just trounce without an actual army backing us up. 

Claiming Generals and Admirals:

Yes you can claim a General, just be warned that there's not much you can do with your claimed general or admiral as I will be doing the fighting, however you can suggest different tactics and I will try to work it in I guess.

Ugh first post made but hit something wrong and it deleted the whole post, I'll get it wrote up soon, its to fucking hot here right now.

Amsterdam, a cultural, economic and political capital, populated by the dutch, an independant people who are united by the fact that if they weren't they would get overrun by the Spanish or French or anyone else,


A Republic rules the Dutch, giving much power to the people and less to an individual person.


Trade is a driving force in the Dutch power, and it is prudent that more trade is secured.


Technological developments will decide the fate of the Dutch and with nearby  weaker countries it may be perogative to invade and secure their universaties to give them the leading edge against other countries, for now research of new bayonets will be conducted.


Ceylon serves as our base of operations in the East, with a small fleet, able to support the VOC and patrol the waters off the Island.


Further East lies, so far, the only trade outpost controlled by the Dutch, an important facet of the Dutch and must be protected.


In the Caribbean we hold two colonies, as well as a fleet, though the trade lanes coming from here are constantly threatened by the pirate havens and it may be prudent to begin a military campaign against the pirates in the area..


For now we wait and conduct construction and infanstructure improvements across all our held lands, including mines in the colonies. Ceylon will work to make sure our trade outpost is secure while our ports at home will work on getting a second trade fleet ready.   

In America we will begin preperations to fight piracy as well as work to rout any pirate fleets possible in order to secure more ships.

I'd like to claim our starting americas general, IIRC, he should be in Curasomething(why did we give our colonies names with letters that aren't even used in our language?)

I also advice we take the the other half of guyana as quickly as possible*, that should give us a large amount of control over the trade theaters.

*after doing the no-brainer stuff like whacking the pirates.

Actually we don't have a General in America yet, we do have an Admiral though.

We have...

Two Generals in the Netherlands, one leading the garrison and one leading the army.

One General in Ceylon (leading a unit of VOC infantry)

One Admiral in Europe (Main fleet) And one admiral in America.

I'll probably end up raising a General in America anyways...
