wow... just wow. anyone had success with a baby dragon product economy?

I didn't think it had been established whether tamed dragons could breed.  Something about their ages in the RAWs, or possibly just the rarity that one would be able to find a breeding pair in fortress mode.

I heard, or read somewhere that in one of the versions donkeys don't die of old age. That could be a plus if it's true.
IIRC horses are immortal too.
Those statements were true for 40d (and it applied to mules as well), but not for the new version. Now all domestic animals will die of old age once they're between 10 and 20 years old.
In fact, I don't think there are any 'real' animals left that are missing a maxage tag - even vermin like flies and cockroaches have it (set so they die after one year)

There are three things I know about dwarves:
1. They've got beards. Even the women.
2. They're short. Especially the women.
3. They're Scottish.

..personally I prefer tame elephants. Yes, the age to maturity is mildly annoying, but considering the sheer amount of meat and fat produced from 1 elephant calf, I don't have to wait until they mature. Fat is rendered into tallow, and then cooked with the meat into masterpiece meals.

Not good if you want to fuel a marksdwarf battalion

In other words it won't affect anyone playing DF2010.  :P
