If you want to stretch the definition then you could say he was vegetarian in that he cut back on meat, but never cut it out altogether.

The only thing that's hard (not impossible) to get with a vegetarian/vegan diet is vitamin B-12. Plants have enough protein.
Just look at those ultra-mighty elven diplomats. Some of them never ate a dwarf

There we go. He usually stuck to a vegetarian diet because of chronic flatulence but he didn't always.

I'm really good at drawing the human body.
Except hands and feet.
I cannot draw hands and feet.
So I usually hide the fact by putting hands in pockets or super baggy sleeves.
Feet are easy to hide.
Shoes and maybe long pants.
