Terraformers. Ended.
« on: May 21, 2010, 11:26:32 pm »

Another game by yours truly.

This game will allow you to see my obsession with Terraforming, oh the wonderful thing. I'll use Aurora for many things.

And for all of you who want to put ammonia in the earth's atmosphere, this game is serious. You do something stupid like launching an asteroid at a habited planet, they will either blast you into space dust, or put you in a jail. (Both kick you off the game and put another player in your place)

This is a multiplayer game, it will be a game with a win/defeat of Musical chairs. The person with the least points is kicked out for the next player in the waiting list. You may apply again, but will be put at the bottom of the waiting list. Each round has three players. In the event of a tie (Very unlikely), everyone will move onto the next round, with no-one kicked off.

You are a Terraforming ship, you also have a traction beam to haul certain objects like asteroids, and collide them with planets. You can add gas at a rate of 0.06 ATMs per month, each action takes a month, each turn is a month, and you have eighteen months for each system.

You start in sol, and then go to other unique systems, generated by Aurora (of course). I will make sure to only pick systems with at least one gas giant and at least 5 planets/dwarf planets/moons with a colony rating of at least 4 in Aurora.

Sure, I'll join.

Now, when you say "disasters," does that refer to unintentional effects, or is changing a planet's gravity a tradeoff between +points for better gravity and -points for oh god you smashed an asteroid into the planet?

Disasters means you screwed up, intentionally or unintentionally. Like for example:

"OH GOD YOU KILLED ALL LIFE ON YOUR PLANET!" -1000.

"OH GOD YOU KILLED ALL LIFE ON YOUR PLANET WITH A MOON THAT WAS NEEDED TO KEEP LIFE ON OTHER PLANETS ALIVE!" -1000 -1000.

"OH GOD YOU DESTROYED A GAS GIANT WHICH CAUSED ALL THE ORBIT PATHS TO CHANGE! OH NO! A PLANET HIT ANOTHER PLANET! OH NO! ANOTHER PLANET HIT ANOTHER PLANET!" -10000 -1000 -1000.

You don't get penalized if you don't kill life, so crash asteroids into planets first. Unless you want to get a penalty.

Do asteroids have tangible stats, or are they too small to be interacted with in useful ways?

I randomly pick from Aurora's asteroids. They do have their uses. I'll try to make them more useful.

If I just happen to "accidentally" smash jupiter into Sol, will That blow everything up?
Jupiter, while flying into the sun, would skew the paths of earth, mars, venus and mercury and cause them to crash into Jupiter, not to mention the asteroid field. And when it hits sol, you're facing penalties for each moon.

You won't suffer a super penalty, but you will suffer enough to guarantee you lost the round.

Arn't there legitimate reasons for colisions? Like, a planet has way to low gravtiy so you crash it's moons into it and get more ideal gravity?

You still killed life, so there are no 'legitimate' reasons for colliding asteroids into a planet. Collide asteroids before life evolves and you'll be fine.

Double posting (Sorry) to say I'm done with sol, I'm not 100% sure that the rules are balanced enough.

Should I start the game and have any new rule fixes or additions added to the next round's rules? Otherwise you might have to wait for quite some time.

Unknown to most but the insane and the mystics, Tarran is actually Earth itself, as Earth is sentient like that planet in Avatar. Originally Earth used names such as Terra on the internet, but to protect it's identity it changed letters, now becoming the Tarran you know today.
Quote from: Ze Spy
Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.
