Show off your fort's best bits (in stonesense)
« on: May 21, 2010, 10:33:58 am »

I really wanna see what you ppl came up with in your current forts.
So fire up Stonesense and grab some shots to show off the best bits of your fort.

I'll start with this shot of my new balcony/dining room/water source. Nothing amazing, but I like it :)
(might take a while to load, full .png shot)

Note the tables in a square, that's where a waterfall comes trough, also in front of the wallgrates is another waterfall.
The hole by the water on the right is where the waterfall exits normally, the waterwheel is connected to a pump to clear the entrance of water when the waterfall is used to flood that part.

Here's a snippet from my Cliff fort. A bit chaotic with all those bridges and semi-natural cliffs and I'm permanently in a stone shortage (yes, stone shortage) but I love it.

Welcome to Murdermachines. Try the gecko sauce; it's delectable and delightful, a wonderful blend of savory and spicy that makes any dish delicious without being too overwhelming.

(Warning: Do not ask about the manufacturing process for gecko sauce)

I would show off my fort, but it's basically a 144x96x5 z-level pit.

So I have to admit I have not used any graphic tile set for df.

I would like to know, in a busy fort, how much do the tile sets detract from the frame rate?  Just an average. it obviously would be a bit different depending on the feature set used.

Stonesense is a visualizer program, not a graphic tileset, hehe, wish it was. Mind you, it can run side-by-side with DF, although you can't control the game via the Stonesense interface.

Yeah, it's a lake-cave. Some of my dwarves tried bungee lately but unfortunately my only rope is the one in well...

I just carved out a dining room in my second fort. I haven't yet furnished it, but it'll be nice when I get some tables and chairs in.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The center section will be surrounded by green glass windows and have a waterfall flowing down around it, and will serve as my (insert noble here)'s bedroom. Currently it's my bookkeeper's office.

Ahh I see.  Dropped my FPS from 40 to 30.

Judging from this, my fort is a COMPLETE MESS!

This is my unfinished entrance to my fortress... It has a retractable bridge and gates that close, so far all i have on the inside is a waterfall machine that is powered by water wheels. Also my people are very unhappy, all ive done is worked on this... I havent made them rooms or dining tables or anything. Im planning on making the next level a mess hall.

Edit:Crap, forgot photo link...

Work in progress, and hard to show in Stonesense due to size. It will eventually be filled with water and have settlements on it. This is part of my segregation fort I've been working on.

Sorry, this isn't stonesense, but I don't have it in a more recent version--just updated to .34 and this is...old. I think we can all decipher how it would look, though ;)

I've since updated my dwarf room counts to 7 a set, I made a mistake on this attempt so most are at 6 instead. I figure since we generally do math in base 10 (10 digits on your hands after all), and many Americans (meso, south, native, yada) used base 20 (you have twenty digits, after all), that dwarves would perversely formulate 7 base systems.

I tried something like this once, and failed.

I am awe struck by your brilliance.
