I've been trying for the past little while to make it so that my dwarves have [SPEED:1] but I must be putting it in the wrong spot in the file or something, because whenever I make a new region and start a fort all my dwarves are represented by C's and they are all injured. Can someone copy and paste a part of there raws with where they put the speed tag for me?

You put it under [CREATURE:DWARF] in creature_standard.txt.

Does your text editor create backup files?

No, but I had a backup of my creature_standard.txt in the same folder, I removed that and everything worked fine. Thanks.
