Question about building ramps
« on: May 19, 2010, 10:48:26 am »

What direction do they go in? And how do I influence that?

I built a row of ramps (N<->S) and built a floor off them, when i put walls up it seemed the Dwarfs couldn't traverse them any more, as if the ramps needed a free tile to the south.

The ramps were built first (understandably) before the floor went up between them.

you can only exit the ramps upper surface if it has a wall next to it.

Code: [Select]
lv1 -    vfff
lv0 - ...^...
is no good, you need
Code: [Select]
lv1 - ...v.ff
lv0 - ...^w..

. = normal space
^ = ramp up
v = ramp down
w = wall
f = floor

Ah! Thanks.
Wish the UI would block you from building ramps in open-air then.

well that wouldn't be realistic...plus, a floor seems to work as well.

Ramps without walls next to them can be used, but only by wagons. I believe this is a known bug.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.
