So I'll try to GM my own game here. Another hive building game, like Ghazkul's one but with slightly different mechanics

You are a new being. Some may say that you are a spirit. Some may say you are intelligent glob of energy. Some may say you are Devil himself  You know only one thing - You want to absorb the universe. You want to become the universe! But at first you need a physical body. You need a host.

This galaxy is full of life and you only need to choose where to go

Alpha Quadrant
14385 Planets
1721 Planets with life
615 planets with sentient life
57 Tech level 0 civilizations
23 Tech level 1 civilizarions
11 Tech level 2 civilizations
3 Tech level 3 civilizations
1 Tech level 4 civilizations

Beta Quadrant
326 Planets
326 Planets with life
326 planets with sentient life
1 Tech level 4 civilization

Gamma Quadrant
17083 Planets
3011 Planets with life
2825 Planet with sentient life
3 Tech level 3 civilizations
1 Tech level 4 civilization

Delta Quadrant
38103 Planets
2901 Planets with life
133 planets with sentient life
97 tech level 0 civilizations
39 Tech level 1 civilizations
4 Tech level 2 civilizations

Info
Tech level 0 ( Preindustrial civilizations. Anything from stone age to 19th century )
Tech level 1 ( Something like 1800-1950 earth. Or better but without space faring )
Tech level 2 ( current earth, any civilization with basic space faring )
Tech level  3 ( Space faring (quadrant) )
Tech level 4 ( Space faring ( galaxy)

Why not? Dangerous it is true but it would allow us a method of travel between planets.

Every planet owned by one civilisation? How did I miss that option.
I change my vote to this.

Some comments:

Alpha quadrant - bit of everything. Pretty safe

Beta quadrant
Home of the only Tech 4 civilization in galaxy. Strong opponent. Hard start.

Gamma Quadrant - You'll meet strong opposition soon, but civilizations here are busy in total war (and you can use this )

Delta Quadrant - Safe start but you'll have some problems later

I choose Alpha Quadrant. Has enough soft targets for us to absorb, but spacefaring targets to travel between planets too. We can always absorb the level 4 race there too to travel to other places as well.

So the Alpha and Gamma tech 4's are also this one?

I choose Alpha Quadrant. Has enough soft targets for us to absorb, but spacefaring targets to travel between planets too. We can always absorb the level 4 race there too to travel to other places as well.

With only 600 planets inhabited of which 100 are sub-space groups I don't like our odds of being on a planet with the level 3/4 races and so being able to travel. And even if we are I doubt it'll be much more dangerous than any other planet with a level 4 race.

It's not totally random. I'll give a choice between several solar systems

1 Tech level 1 civilization
1 Tech level 0 civilization
Special: Space ships of civilization from system B detected
