Actually beak dogs look almost like raptors so you can consider them to be in DF :).

That's actually what my friend and I realized. Good thing you mentioned it, for those unenlightened poll takers out there.

The new HFS will bend you over the table. Carp are nothing compared to this monstrosity.

I'm not sure if it's still a problem in DF2010, but the old Nemesis Unit was more terrifying that an army of zombie carps.

They are distinctly NOT immune to legendary axedwarves.

FPS drop, I HATE FPS drop. I love my FPS.

Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.

Yeah, but an FPS drop leaves you vulnerable to raptor attacks. You might survive otherwise (although I'd bet against it).

That's the great thing about this forum. We can derail any discussion into any other topic.
It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.

Lack of booze. It used to be FPS, but I have an awesome processor now. Booze problem are just a logistical hassle.

Hi!

I play with nearly no immigration, so I have very few dwarves in my work force for a long time, so low FPS are really the biggest threat to my ambitions.

FPS drop is definitely the biggest fortress killer for me, simply because I have a decent computer and get pretty annoyed/bored if everything slows. Anything below 50 FPS for me is unbearable, as I've hardly had the game ever drop below 80 in 40d unless I suddenly the whole river or something...

Lack of booze is rarely an issue although in DF2010 I sometimes have problems early on since I don't seem to care enough about getting an area irrigated before I no longer have anything to brew...

Otherwise, underground building destroyers, especially the Forgotten Beast kind tends to be the thing I'm most wary of, as my entrance is usually well defended, and I usually have ways to seal off various parts of my forts, but if they get inside from below because I accidentally break into a cavern and they can break my beautiful doors, then it's probably going to end up badlywith lots of fun.

FPS drop will kill even the most well defended fort, regardless of precautions or defences (sometimes even because of those things). Ironically I consider it the anti-pole of the 'losing is FUN' idea: Becoming so ambitious and succeeding so well that you can't actually play your fort isn't any fun at all.
