So the spiral continued, and my mayor (well one of them anyway) got a good workout consoling people.
One guy had 7 pet cats. He's in the same refuse area now that the cats are. At least he's with them in a better place now...
So one of my dwarfs was in a fistfight, and was rescued. No one seemed to want to help, so I turned off all the tasks on the great diagnoser wound dresser dwarf. He rushes over and yes this dwarf has had the crap beaten out of her. Gave her a lathering of soap, diagnosed that nearly everything is busted, take two aspirin and call me in the morning.
Unacceptable, sutures are required. Well. No one seemed to have that skill, so I turn it on for him. Immediately he dashes into action, grabbing adamantine threads. Oh thanks. She'll be worth a million bucks even if she's busted up ugly now and covered in scars and immobilized.
At least the second time he went back (since there is so much work to do) he took rope reeds thread...
And in the mean time a goblin civilization has finally made itself known, after 16 years of not being around on the civilization menu. Perfect timing. Just as my first adamantine weapons and armor were forged in the glory of our ancestors!
The only problem is none of that crap is assignable until my arsenal dwarf gets his rear in gear. I had no idea that if you made weapons and armor you couldn't just immediately assign it--I knew that after assigning it, the arsenal dwarf would have to shuffle papers around to get the soldiers to pick up new equipment. At first I thought maybe I couldn't assign the new items because they were still in the metalsmith shops. But after the items were stored in bins and still unavailable... well... damn you get to work!!
