crossmr, same problem as yours.
I'm using Win7 64-bit. T'is is a first time when fonts are messing.

Nice FPS, Sasasmylee. :P

Also, I thought I'd try the font.ttf switcharoo you, Phoebus, mentioned last page but I see no difference. Doesn't matter as I can get used to this font just as well and I don't even have the missing letters bug.

Hey Phoebus, I was wondering- do your .bat updaters actually edit the init files or delete and replace them?

Is there a manual for the bat-files?
I don't know which files are the one that are used to update, so I always change all of them ;)

You could try changing the truetype font in /data/art/
I've replaced the default DF font "Dejavu Sans" with the "Consolas" font, which is larger and fixed width, it works better with DF's formatting.
Rename "font.ttf" to "font_consolas.ttf" and then rename the "font_dejavu_sans.ttf" to "font.ttf". (DF is hardcoded to use /data/art/font.tff)

I had the same problem with letters missing randomly all over the screen. In fact, they were not missing but flashing up for a really short time when I selected the item/menu entry/whatever, then they became black/invisible.

Changing the font to dejavu_sans seems to have helped so far...

--
Edit: After playing for a while with the other font now suddenly letters start missing again. What could I do about that?

--
Edit 2: I just found out that if I use the mousewheel to zoom in and out a bit it will fix the missing letters.

Resizing the window also fix the missing letters, apparently. But it's only temporary...

I've tested zombie graphics, and they do work!

Phoebus, I know you've deleted all zombie graphics but you can put them back. You just need to use the ANIMATED tag instead of the ZOMBIE tag that we've used to have. Here is for example how I've set zombie dwarves:
[ANIMATED:PHOEBUS_D:0:20:AS_IS]

You can do this for any creature, which means they will flash between the appropriate zombie tile and the general night beast tile.

Only temporarily.
I just tested it. Soldiers names missing, mouse wheel, fixed
go to next squad, new names missing, mouse wheel fixed,
you have to do it every single time you see text messed up
we know it's not the font.
what else?

I think we need to narrow down the problem first. Are only Windows users affected? Does it only happen with specific mods active?
Iīm using Phoebus, DFHack, DwarfTherapist. And a fortress created with .34.02

Guess Iīll try to play a new game in plain ascii without any mods for a while and see if it starts missing letters after a while, too - that would be the only way to find out if itīs DF itself or one of the mods messing with memory where it shouldnīt do that.

Neat-o; what does it show for an animated hand or hair?

I'm only using Dwarf Therapist, but i'm missing text before I even start it. Phoebus and that's it. 34.02 fort
