Hm. O5, probably. Square looks very interesting but maybe a bit cluttered and it's very blocky, O3 & O4 blend in well but are a little bland.  O5 is in that nice middle ground where it's nice and interesting if I want to look at it, but it's curvy and natural-seeming enough that I can also ignore it if I've got other things to do

You mean Bauxite + Cryolite = Aluminium?

Mh, AFAIK Bauxite is the major ore/source for Al, and Cryolite was used as such in past times - ah, thanks to wikipedia it is used as a flux... so yes ;) Anyways... just wanted to say that I am offline for some time now - and are looking forward to the surprises I may find here (DF v.27+? and Phoebus VDF.42+??) once I am back again :p

Btw. Right Column - but I cannot decide on which one, but middle or bottom have a slightly more pleasant look to me then the top field...

Holy crap, Phoebus!

I can't keep up with this stuff.

It's too awesome!

Keep it up, though. I LOVE it.

I've used the O#3 engraving style due to popular vote.
The grass on the root plant tile now is subtly colored with the same color as the root.

Screenshots incoming soon.

You can see the new root plants and one tile of ashes in the NW.

I like what you've done with the bulbs.  They're much more discernable now.

hey Phoebus, i am curious about your position on center dots, that you use for rock tiles.
do you have specific use for them?
its just came to me, if you would remove the dot and keep just the texture, it would give more ambient and more "calm" information background to the eyes.

i can understand symbols for metals and gems, but for rocks, i think - just the texture itself, would be informative enough. since each your rock tile have a unique texture.
what do you think on this?

You mean like this?

yes, like sand and clay (though they only got one color tone) - simply no dot. just the same gray background color and original texture, which defines if its metamorphic, extrusive or whatever type of rock it is.
perhaps the above poster who studied geology could advise on more intuitive textures for them.

update:
yes, the idea is exactly, like in Meld vs. Emboss screen.
i haven't knew about it till you told me. not much info on first page about other version of tile set.

thanks for letting know.

P.S
would you consider it is as default option?

Pretty good for world maps.  I love what it does to the big rivers, but it's still missing a bit on the transitions from streams.
Which font is that?

Dark basalt (layer) vs bright alunite (stone); Current vs Solid

would you consider it is as default option?
No. The current default version is designed to be easy to read and understand.
Experienced DF players can easily change tileset as they see fit, DF newbies... let's first give em the best chance possible to survive the DF brains'plosion.

The font I was using is ...

ONOES! Phoebus I forgot to back it up before I installed v13 from the preinstall package! It's dead!

I found it somewhere on the net, but I don't remember what it's name was :(  TTF with accents and punctuation.

Wow Phoebus you're on a roll!  Been loving all the updates, thanks for all the awesomeness.  Your tileset greatly improves my DF experience.  :P

Just wanted to chime in to agree with Aydjile, I'd like to see a version with just textures and no dots for regular, non-economic stones.  I think I'd probably play with that version if it were available as it would look cleaner, less cluttered.
