Goblin Seige/Ambush

I Have looked and have only found a way to turn it off completely. Is their a way to turn off ambushes only? I like sieges. But ambushes are a bit to much for me with the way the marks dwarfs currently are.

Edit: on second thought I may have just figured out why none of my traps have worked on goblins. I have been using all wood spike balls/spikes. Is it possible Gobo's with armor over cloth would be completely unaffected? I had assumed non-detected Goblins were not affected by traps.

In 40d, traps would only reveal ambushers that it killed. Is there any blood around the trap area?

the wooden traps killed 3 gobo thieves so not sure if its their blood or the ambushers. But there is ALOT of vomit all over the traps. And very little blood.

maybe they are confusing smashed goblins with vomit...

Don't think so, If I remove Goblin's and put in custom orc's would it be possible to make that race not ambush?

Removing [AMBUSHER] tag should work, I believe.

I looked and used search, without any report of ambusher being a tag any longer. What file would it be under? I looked under entities and creatures.

I'm sure its the Elves that got AMBUSHER and not the Gobbos...  Gobbos still ambush in my game despite that.


[BABYSNATCHER] might have something to do with it?  But, the Gobbos might be friendly if you take that... 
[ABUSE_BODIES] may counter the friendly effect, but its not 100%.

The only way to counter the disappearance of BABYSNATCHER in 40d and earlier was removing their ability to speak. However it triggered sieges right in the first winter.

Would removing it mid game take out the downside to having them siege early? edit those tags when the fort is 1-2 years old?

How to accomplish what the OP desires:

Remove [BABYSNATCHER]. If [AMBUSHER] is in the goblin entity as well, get rid of that too.
Remove [INTELLIGENT] and replace with [CAN_LEARN]
Increase progress triggers in the goblin civ entity to something like 3 all around.

This causes goblins to siege only, but only start coming in the mid stages of the fortress's life.

I only estimated the actual number to change the arrival time of goblins to. You may want to increase or decrease it depending on when you feel ready for sieges.

The [AMBUSHER] tag is used by the Giant Cave Spider.
