As for my decision this time, I kinda saw that tactic as a way to postpone the game. So I acted on it.
Use both Redshirts, move to teleport chamber, board Palad'in.
You bring your redshirt count up to 7, and arrive in the right pod.
Plasma grenade. Seal god. Boom.
You step over to the neighboring section and... Boom indeed.
This gets you hurt directly though, no redshirts to absorb it for you.
