Well, I go to the doctors...
« on: May 16, 2010, 08:46:12 am »

Well I found out last week that my head is attracted to magnets...when to the doctor and he tells me, "Well your skin isnt magnetic, but something under it sure is, I'm going to set up an appointment for exploratory surgery to see what it is, but based on your blood tests I dont see any immediate problems."

So wednesday I have to go back to get cut open...what sucks the most is I was told not to go near any strong magnetic feilds and if I get any new symptoms to seek immediate medical care.

So not only do I have to avoid refridgerator magnets I cant work on my project due to it's magnetic feild, which sucks.

Err....that doesn't even make sense.

The only way for your head to be magnetic is if there were something like a metal plate replacing a section of your skull.

Also why would they do exploratory surgery? Metal shows up very well on X-rays. A quick X-ray would be all they needed and its completely non-invasive.

An X-Ray will only reveal dense chunks of metal, those at least as dense as bone and big enough to make a silhouette. If it's nonmetal magnetization of some sort, you'd have to do something else. Exploratory surgery is one way, something big enough could be spotted with ultrasound too. MRT is right out though. :P

probably x-ray would show nothing, but I feel that they should try less invasive methods before cutting an head open

I doubt an x-ray or such would help determine anymore then it's shape and scope, as surgery to take samples would help determine what it's made of and such.

The way it reacts it's more like the way iron fileings do then a metal plate...and its not magnetic because it cant attract nonmagnetic iron or such (paperclips and what not)

So it's either some metal or such that is attractive to magnets but isnt magnetic or has too weak a magnetic feild to attract any more then normal skin.

(ment magnetizable "attracted to magnets" not magnetic)

Well, unless you've been munching a disproportionate amount of apples or some other iron-rich food, there's no normal way for any sort of magnetizable material to get collected in any part of your body. Abnormal ways include being a guard near Magneto who's recently been knocked out by some girl for no apparent reason. :)

Shrapnel wounds maybe?  No really, can you remember your head ever being around an accident or machinery or something that could have sprayed your head with iron filings?

If not, you could be in the first stages of developing superpowers.

Wait, refrigirator magnets are strong enough to give a noticable effect? You must be realy, realy affected by magnetism then. As far as I know, refrigirator magnets typicaly have no warnings for people with a pacemaker, so you're more sensitive then that...

you obviosly dont know how strong my refridgerator magnets are...strong enough to pull whatever it is up and deform my face.

what I got a refridgerator magnet strong enough to hold up three papers is just strong enough to stick to my skin.

The ability to move iron filings with your head is the worst superpower ever.
