Is booze a fluid in DF2010?  If so: does anyone know how to liberate it from the barrels?

I was thinking of having a high dump point leading to a steel grate above the moat 40 or so levels below.

No, unfortunately it isn't.  You will never get booze as a flowing liquid in a tile, at least not this version.

Now what you can work on is a moat full of boiling booze.  :D

Making booze a liquid would be insane... Then we could make giant factories to flavor it, or just drop nakid goblins into it to flavor it as they slowly drown a horrible death. Mmmm

Accidently flooding fortress with booze? Underground booze-oceans? Yes. Oh god yes.

There would never be oceans of beer. They would all be artificial lakes.

That said, OCEANS OF BEER.

Booze rivers, fermented by booze waterfall, paddleboat that goes through the river flowing past a funhouse heading towards the main parts of the dwarven booze factory; where all the +kitten tallow biscuits+ and +Everlasting Gob-stoppers+ are made.

I'm sorry Urist Imiknorris, you are mistaken, you are correct that there would never be oceans of booze, but you are mistaken in that they would be artificial lakes, there would be no oceans of booze because the dwarves would drink it all.

Come to think of it, I bet there'd be a new tag if this happened, only dwarves would have it and it would be [BREATHE_BOOZE]

It's hard-coded into them.

Other liquids than water and magma aren't implemented. Yet.

That's what I love about this game/Toady/...: most questions about unimplemented features can be answered with 'Not yet.'

He's discussed making every real life liquid into a DF liquid. Booze/blood/vomit/...-fall anyone?

Yeah, the problems are FPS and floating dynamics. Such as what fluids float on top and which sink. And what materials would float in what liquids. And what if you flooded a stockpile what would happen to your framerate when hundreds of barrels, bins and items are suddenly mixing fluids and floating away? Could be a real nightmare if it's not done right.

Dump 300 barrel loads of pure alcohol into the ocean.
Set it on fire.
That will show those mermaids who's the boss.
