If we attempt subterfuge, we risk making him hostile. He might be able to break control.

I think a better idea would be to attempt to make him WANT to follow these rules.
I sort of liken this to the situation in Star Trek TOS where the Enterprise comes across NOMAD. Why didn't Kirk just tell it to abandon its mission and serve humanity before it stopped listening to him? Unfortunately, I think it's too late for us. I think our best hope is to convince Alpha that we are his friend.

AHA! i foudn out that this bastard is lying! and hiding his whole working program code! But he can't show it to us so maybe it embedded in the computer harddrive itself as a part of the system!

That won't work as he probaly moved his files unknowing to you to a other safe location SINCE!!!!! some moron decided to give a intelligent super hacking ai some DAMN INTERNETZ

see this as a real situation YOU dont know the ai, You don't even know its code, YOU do not know what the corruption was which may have something to do since he was put on a internetless computer, And finally YOU do not know what the fuck this thing did before.

Its like bringing a highly infectious virus to the water supply and looking hat will happen if i put some in the water
