What does a parenthesis around an object name mean?
« on: May 14, 2010, 07:12:23 pm »

I deconstructed my starting wagon and all my goods fell to the ground.  Most of the items have a parenthesis around their names and now I can't use them.

Is this a bug or is there some trick to being able to use them that I'm not seeing?

It means that they're forbidden, go to the d menu to unforbid them.

Although, your stuff getting forbidden when you deconstruct the wagon shouldn't be happening.

Curly brackets mean the objects are forbidden. To reclaim them, press (d)esignate > b(ulk) > re(c)laim.

Sometimes objects are difficult to use except direct from stockpiles.  Try designating some appropriate stockpiles, let your dwarves move the stuff thereto from the wagon site, and see if that helps.
