You sit in your small house, M16 at the ready. With all those monsters loose in a compound full of gun-toting crazies. Well...you can't be too careful, now can you?
As you peer into the darkness you see movement coming towards you. You fire off a burst. The movement quickens, dodging away.
You fire off another burst, and hear the crack of returning gunfire slam into the wood near your window.
Another burst, and you hear a cry of pain.
There is silence for a bit, and then a shining object spins by your head. You duck down and spin to look at it. Rolling across the floor is a strange silvery object with bluish lights flashing across it. You get a very bad feeling about it, but before you can do anything else the world explodes in blue light.

Nuke9.13 Doppelganger Observent Guard/Mind Shield Guard Solifuge Guards/Dies
If you and your kin are to survive the coming days you'll need to make sure that your disguises are perfect. As such, you decide that you will protect Solifuge tonight. Not that you expect anything to happen, of course.
However, as you approach his house you catch sight of him moving off towards another part of the compound. You ready your pistol and head off after him. Perhaps tonight will be more interesting than you thought!
After a bit he arrives near a house set back a bit from the rest. You cautiously make your way around some bushes, trying to keep him in sight. Suddenly there is a burst of gunfire from the house. You curse and duck out of the way, but not before spying Criptfeind in the window with an assault rifle.
You fire off a quick shot with your pistol as you move through the brush. More bullets whistle through the leaves nearby.
Sprinting towards a tractor you catch a few bullets in the side and let loose a cry of pain.
You stumble and roll the last few steps, coming up beside Solifuge who is hiding behind the Tractor.
"Damn. Watch out, man, Criptfeind's got an assault rifle in there. Crazy bastard is shooting at anything that moves!"
You cough, the metallic taste of blood thick in your mouth.
"Is he, now." Muses Solifuge. "Perhaps this will help." He pulls out a strange silvery device and flips a switch. You watch in bemusement as blue lights begin to flicker along the surface, and you see a streak of light as he tosses it away.
Another fit of coughing. Damn. Must have hit you worse than you thought.
"You're not doing too well, are you?" Askes Solifuge.
"No...I don't think so" You can barely speak. The blood is pooling in your lungs. You can feel the weight. It is getting hard to breath.
"Pity". He looks up at the house as a loud bang goes off. "Well, thanks for the help, Nuke. I'd feel worse about this, but, well, you are a doppelganger."
You look up in surprise as he slips off into the night. You should get up, follow him, kill him. But it's too much. You can't even lift your arm right now. You just need...sleep. Just...for...a...bit...

You sneak off during the night to keep an eye out on Org. If he goes anywhere, you'll see it!
However, he doesn't leave his room all night. Eventually you give up and head back to your room to grab some shut eye.

After scarfing down a sandwich you start gathering your things. You'll need to be careful if you're to discover what Solifuge is up to without him catching you at it.
But as you start going through your drawer you feel a strange sensation. A tightening around you, as if invisible chains had wrapped themselves around you. You stand up and struggle against the chains, trying in vain to break the paralysis settling into your muscles. But it is no use. Your struggles grow weaker, and you thoughts begin to slow.
Then, as you are slumping against your desk, you see the door open. You can only look on with bemusement as Jokerman steps through and rises an Uzi in your direction. The bullets barely even hurt, and your mind has slipped into darkness before you even hit the floor.

Jokerman-EXE Doppelganger Vigilante Shoot Jim Kills
You grab up your Uzi from the gun locker in your room and head out. Jim Groovester gets to die tonight. Not a satisfying death by claw or tooth, but a death nonetheless.
You sneak through the hallways and carefully jimmy open the lock to his room. As you step inside you find Jim slumped against his desk, a strange vacant look in his eyes and his arms down at his sides. He doesn't even blink as you unload the clip into him.
Shrugging at the surprisingly easy assassination, you head out before anyone can come investigate the sounds of gunfire.

You sneak out during the night to take a look at Toaster, see if he is in fact human.
After setting up some hidden surveillance cameras you find a quiet nook to sit and monitor him. All seems normal, however. He finishes a meal, brushes his teeth, and gets ready for bed. As far as you can tell he is indeed a normal
human.

Mr. Person Human Guardian Protect Toonyman Protects, Dies
You decide that ToonyMan needs your protection the most tonight, so you head off to find him. You find him in his house, so you yourself up in a nice spot to keep an eye on him. After a moment he comes out to join you.
"Hey man," You say. "You got nothing to worry about. I got your back!"
"Yeah? Glad to hear it!" Says ToonyMan, clapping you on the shoulder. "I thought I saw someone lurking around earlier. Was that you?"
"Nah. But I'll keep my eye out", you say, grasping your rifle and peering around.
"You do that." ToonyMan says, but his voice seems a bit odd. More gravely. Puzzled, you turn around to see a doppelganger beside you where ToonyMan was standing. You let out a yell and begin to bring up your rifle, but the monster is quicker than you. Sharp claws leave lines of fire in your throat, and your rifle is twisted from your hands. You fall to your knees, hands struggling to contain the wash of warm blood.
It is no use. Your mind descends into darkness, and the last thing you feel is cold dirt against your face.

You decide that ToonyMan needs your protection the most, so you find a safe position near his door. Fortunately, no one comes around and you are able to leave near dawn without ever having to draw your weapon.

You sneak off during the night to see what Org might be up to. After a quick side trip to download his records off the main computers you take up a spot near his house to see what he's doing.
However, you find nothing particularly interesting. He eats a little food, reads a book, and goes to bed. His records indicate no special skills or qualifications. Just a disillusioned citizen who joined the Militia. Shrugging you decide he's just a normal guy and head off to get some sleep.

First order of business for the night is to send out a scanner-bot. Too many unknowns in this place. You set it to inspect NUKE9.13 and send it off. As you wait, you make your preparations.
Just as you're getting impatient to head off it returns, and you pull the results off of it's onboard computer to your head's up display.

Interesting...and a good choice for an inspection. You file this information for later. For tonight, you're going to remove Criptfeind.
You slip off into the night, and head towards his somewhat secluded house.
As you approach, however, you hear the sounds of gunfire. Not at you, but off to the side. You find a tractor sitting off to the side of the road and hunker down behind it.
More gunfire. It sounds as if Criptfeind is in a firefight with someone. This could make for a handy distraction.
As you plan your attack you hear footsteps, a cry of pain, and then NUKE comes rolling behind the tractor and comes to a rest beside you.
"Damn. Watch out, man, Criptfeind's got an assault rifle in there. Crazy bastard is shooting at anything that moves!". NUKE speaks with difficulty, and coughs for a bit after he finishes.
"Is he, now." You muses, glancing down at the doppelganger and noting the bullet wounds in his chest. "Perhaps this will help." you say, pulling out a grenade. You flick it on and do a quick distance calculation, then set it flying off to whiz inside the building.
Nuke has another fit of coughing.
"You're not doing too well, are you?" You ask, as your head's up display shows the dimming life signs of the doppelganger. He's obviously not going to live for much longer.
"No...I don't think so" His breathing is labored, his voice weak.
"Pity". You say, looking up as the house explodes in blue light. "Well, thanks for the help, Nuke. I'd feel worse about this, but, well, you are a doppelganger."
The look on his face as you head off is priceless.

The red mist of the bloodlust descends over your mind. Mr.Person...he shall make a fine feast, tonight. As you gaze outside, waiting for the best time to leave, you catch sight of your quarry standing near some trees outside your room. How...thoughtful of him. You head out to see why he has come.
"Hey man," he says. "You got nothing to worry about. I got your back!"

"You do that." As he turns away from you your form shifts, and you feel the power of your true self surging through you. He turns back with a puzzled look on his face, one that is quickly replaced with horror.
He starts to bring up the rifle, but you casually rake your claws across his throat before he can do much. You then grab the gun and twist it from his hands as he sinks to the ground, blood pouring down the front of his shirt. In moments, the body lies still.
You hoist it up and head off to join the others. They will be eager to feast!
