Hi!
Just to clarify this, I am no real fan of EA myself. There is the thing with Infocom and also SimCity Societies and definitely Infocom.
However, I have to point out that in this particular case, EA are actually not the worst around there (I guess they are trying, but they are not quite there yet). At least as far as I understand it, you can play in single player mode with a game you purchased as a used version, right? Or even if that is limited, you can still play the game when you are not connected to the internet, right (provided that it makes sense for the game in question).
Well, there is the abomination called "Buddy" in Japan, which would make the worst jerks proud. Games protected by "Buddy" require you to be connected to their server all the time in order to run. Should your internet connection fail or their server takes a break - bad luck, your game will just shut down in mid-play! At least that is what the official information on that system says. Fortunately (?), that sick perversion also has a racist agenda, so it will only run on Japanese computers, which kept me from even facing any decision about that.
And mind you, "Buddy" is used to protect normal single player games like the old "Ys" series, not multi-player games. We are talking about games that do not even have any online/internet features (besides being bought via online stores).
EDIT: But yeah, after the thing with Infocom, EA has a special flavor for me.
