A rose is a rose is a rose is a rose.

Myst as a fun game is Myst.

I played Myst.  Nothing happened.

I played Myst and got freaked out by a fat bearded guy in a pool of water.

That was about it.

He's ticked folks (well, a folk) are bashing Myst. However, unlike me, he insists on continuing to jive them rather than call them philistines or something else self-entitling* and move on.

*In an ironic sort of way, like Dave likes Puppets in MSPA

Not if you meant to say "Myst as a fun game?!"

Ok, you seriously don't understand what I'm saying?

The picture is of Myst as a fun game.  The fun game that Myst is being portrayed as is Doom.  There.  Get it now?

I just noticed that you went back and editted this in like I wasn't getting the joke or something.

WRT Sensei:  I'm not ticked at all.   I'm not even a big fan of MYST.

Yeah, Myst is already fun, you philistine! I've used that word too much today though.

I'm sensing a connection here...

Philistine!

There comes a time when you must take off the soft, furry slippers of a boy and put on the shoes of a man.
Unless of course they don't fit properly and your feet blister up like bubble wrap.
Oh ho ho, but don't try to return the shoes, because they won't take them back once you've worn them.
Especially if that fat pig Tony is at the desk.

always assumed it was because lambda is used in radiogenic halflife equations

And the in-game reason is because the facility in which the original research which caused the cascade was done was called the "Lambda Complex."

I thought the lambda symbol was just incredibly clever. In addition to

it ALSO looks like a hand gripping a crowbar.

Genius.

Two wrongs don't make a right.
Well, since mathematics have been brought into this thread, a negative times a negative does make a positive.

Yes, but a negative plus a negative (which would be the addition of two wrongs) just makes a greater negative.

It is a good point that doing two bad things that are not connected will generally be equivalent to an addition.

But two bad things somehow connected to each other may result in a greater wrong than the two individually would if considered together.

For example:

Kicking a puppy (puppy harm) and then smashing your beer on the street (road hazard and littering): two additive wrongs

Kicking a puppy into the street (puppy harm and road hazard): two wrongs that are more than the sum of their individual parts

HOWAYVER!

We cannot say that the formula in the second case is A * B. Surely there is some additive wrong, but it's hardly enough to raise it that much. It's more like each of the two wrongs raises the wrongness of the other one slightly (just one time, this isn't recursive).

Perhaps A + B + 0.1A + 0.1B

Although the coefficient of the third and fourth terms is totally up in the air.
