I vote for both river and mountain. Besides, we're productive sorts. We cut wood. Elves would hate and come kill us.

Oh, and I try to find a high point to once again look at my surroundings using my binoculars. Climbing a high tree would be valid.

Another idea would be to build an outpost on the trade route, a tavern and all that and profit from passing caravans

Ow. Much gratitude to Canalan. For the record, Canalan gets my vote unless I say otherwise. Anyone who can cause that much pain and uses their powers for Good should be listened to.

Are there still traders about? I still need to dispose of my desk and stereo. Before they disappear, too.

"Do we have food? Booze? I have some trading good, folks. Like my *sob* desk here. Do you think the humans play cards?"

The majority of you voted for the River-by-the-Mountain, correct? If so I'll update my map with your new settlement. Also, you need to come up with a name, preferably short so it doesn't block anything.

Cards are worth 20 dorfbucks a pack, until you saturate the market. Then the price will drop.

"Well.. Let's just keep one pack of cards, so that we might make some new ones later on..

Right now, we should perhaps come up with names for our settlement.. What about 'Tearfall'?"

"Right. sounds good. 4 or 5 decks of cards to sell off, then. Do you think it would be better to sell the cards at once, here, or one at a time? I also have to ditch this stereo, my *sob* x*oak desk*x, and I can sell and a round tigereye ornament, 2 pointy obsidian arrowhead things, and some pencils. We can get some pretty decent gear for that, I hope.

...as for a settlement name: How about 'WorldBridged'?"

The kobold raises himself onto weary feet, and stumbles as he experiences what probably is the first kobold head trauma (All the others were killed just afterwards).

Seeing your conversation, He mutters "seahag" and hobbles off, presumably twords the entrance. His Concealment flickers back on as he does so.

Wait! Kobold! Don't go! I want to teach you poker! (and you probably have my computer)

"I'm always there to play poker with you.. I like playing poker."
"Well thanks, um... whatsyername? but think about it: A kobold! Who could read a kobold? We can't even understand what they're saying! I mean really, 'seahag'? As for my stuff, well, I have a recently re-located shoulder. I'm certainly not carrying the desk anywhere."

as has been made pointedly clear to me. ;)

Flaede is hungry.

I trundle off to see what price I can get for my desk and 4 decks of cards (was going to give the 5th to the kobold :( ) The rest of that stuff I mentioned will be on display as well.
Priorites (in order):

Food.
Seeds (berries. not things that need milling.)
backpack and non-glass flask/waterskin
a hat to cover my apparent baldness?

Do we have a map of this place? I'd dearly love to find a well. I have a glass flask to fill.
