As soon as I crawl out from under my desk I am going to be searching for a good water source to fill up our various containers. If one of us gets injured, we will need it!

Also: "Who here can manage a broker/merchant role and find out what we can get for our awesome junkstuff?"
*scribbles out list of desk contents to keep from going mad* does that make me a bookkeeper? ;)

we should probably keep the compass, and i beg you to not sell the tea

as for tradeable goods, i got a couple cookies and a few dirty socks. i got more stuff, but i forgot what, let me check my first post

Askot, I have 3 compasses. it's just one of them is a novelty oversized box-mounted "ship's compass", with a lid, and a Sailor Jerry's Spiced Rum label/pinup in it (steady as she goes). The other two are serviceable, have lanyards, and could count as DF "amulets". One has an orienteering style lid. I would rather not sell the tea either, but it is in separate tins, is looseleaf, and could fetch a good price. The chai spice could be rather pricey, considering the prices regular milled plants can fetch in DF, and I really want that pack-animal.

Karnewarrior, you appear to have given me objects I struck off my list (like most clothes), by removing the strikethrough when you copy/pasted.

I'm sure several or all of us are experts on building constructions to keep goblins out/dead.
River seems a good place to start. Carp are fairly harmless as of 31.XX

I say that we go to the river next too the planes, also as for a bookkeeper I call it, after all I already have the relevant skills.

I don't think we should claim roles. We should do things as a group for a while until we get to know each other, and then figure out who needs to do what in order for us to survive.

ACTIONS:

after recovering from being stunned...
I grab leatherman from drawer.
I crawl under my desk .
I put on the jacket.
I notice hatchet and hammer and grab them both.

"Am I in the dwarven halls? I didn't think you could embark there. Who are all of you?"

Anyone going to fill me in/pool resources? Or should I just start trying to trade some of my stuff for a pack animal once I figure out what's going on. I don't want to leave my precious desk or its contents, and they would leave me rather encumbered.
You crawl out from under the desk, which is missing the computer you were using, for some odd reason. During the entrance, however, lugging along something as heavy as a desk pulled your shoulder out of it's socket. It was good luck it didn't come off completely.

I am still missing.
So you are. You come back and hand the map to your friends.  :P

I say we move to the island and make a great island keep to start our empire.

Agreed. We shall rule!
The island is an endgame area. As to how to get there, let's just say there's going to be no goblins in this world after your done, eh? Or dwarves, possibly. Or both, you could just... Wait, I'm not saying any more.
We bridge the sea. With MAGMA.

I gather seeds from plants in the surrounding area.
The surrounding area is smooth stone. The only fungus in the area is under your kobolds armpits. It looks a little freaked out.

Right, I trade some of my pen/cils and paper for a real pick.
Someone needs to be smart.
Also, can I pick up (or make) some splints and crutches? I have a feeling we will need them.
The group heads back to the depot, and you trade all your pencils and most of your paper for the crappiest pick they have. you keep the pens for writing crud with.

I'm sure several or all of us are experts on building constructions to keep goblins out/dead.
River seems a good place to start. Carp are fairly harmless as of 31.XX
((Please note: Regardless of how skilled you were playing DF, you are not as skilled living DF.))

...and I guess we're back at the depot now so...
Try to convince a trader that my thumbtacks are darts
The trader disagrees, once you convince him to look at your face.
"It's up here, stupid!"
"Eh? Wot?"
*Blap!*

Are we a human civ? or do we have a special status.

...hey! what do we look like? Am I Ascii?
((You are not a human civ yet.))
You look how you always look, Unshaven and balding.  :P
