Sure. Maybe we should try to hitch a ride back with the humans (if they make it out).

You are not at the depot, you have just left.
Wait, what? Everyone left the trade depot just because one guy chickened out and ran?

I go back to the depot and then:
I trade my pen and paper(it's a pretty nice metal pen too) for a sword of the highest quality they are willing to trade. If I have to I'll throw in my fake sword as a toy.

As you head back to the depot, you can hear a scuttling noise...

All of the sudden, Lokii screams! A kobold, looking quite dismayed, quickly withdraws his hand from her pocket and begins to run off!

I attempt to kick the kobold as it runs past, avoiding getting too close so as to be in stabby range.

I'm not trying to hurt it, just kicking it. If I hit I'm likely to sweep it over (looking at the raws it's less than a fifth of my weight), and then maybe we can befriend it if it's a cutebold, or otherwise let it scurry away.

So, yeah, trying to kick it. :D

the entire fortress and it's dogs will rip it to shreds before it's able to gibber it's name, i'd rather allow it to escape, beside, i didn't think this through, i just followed my compassion

Geez, I'm away for less than a day and everything has run on?

Anyway, I thought I changed into my jump uniform?

I'd like to favor a good rifle butt, or fixing my bayonet over shooting for ammo conservation purposes should we meet enemies. Of course keep it loaded and safety on.

Otherwise, I'm against settling in with the dwarves. I think our overall goal should be to find a good place build a new human settlement seeing as we're most likely stuck here.

We should try to establish a good relationship with these local dwarves and maybe an eventual  defensive alliance.  Oh and recruit some humans for our new settlement.

Fair enough. Me too, and now my foot's flying towards the kobold. :D
I'll try to kick it away from the fort, if it makes you feel better.

Yeah, some people fought a cougar and I only just came back, too. But sure, this seems like a reasonable goal. After some amount of time, I'm probably going to desire to search for some way to return home, but in the meantime I'll enjoy the DF world.

You manage to get the kobold, despite interference. It lands on the floor with a high-pitched Oof, and begins to scuttle backwards on it's elbows. Canalan stops it, sticking out his leg. The kobold is terrified.

Kenton stops trade: interrupted by kobold thief.

Now, back to trading for a sword.

Can we attempt to calm the kobold? I'll pull a piece of plastic rubbish from my bin and hold it out for it.

You feel a strange force pushing you to remain with the group.

Can we attempt to calm the kobold? I'll pull a piece of plastic rubbish from my bin and hold it out for it.
The kobold take the rubbish, looks at it for a moment, then stares back at you and nibbles on it. It's still terrified.

If it's trying to nibble, I'll give it some orange peel instead, and the stalk of a pear.
