Bridging major rivers? SOLVED
« on: May 12, 2010, 02:14:49 pm »

How do you bridge major rivers? The only way I can think of is by digging underneath it to the other side and then going up, but you can't dig up. Any suggestions?

Just build a bridge out of floor tiles?

Yeah, exactly.
As for digging you can dig up. You need to designate upstairs, then up/down stairs above, then downstairs on the surface.

While you can dig up, remember that opposite banks of a river are fairly likely to be in different biomes, and that digging up into an aquifer is bad news for your project...

You can chain bridges together w/o need for any connecting walls, so long as the original bridge is anchored on land.  Used the same thing to make a very large, very long "removable" raised entrance to my fort.
