Thermite wouldn't set the ocean on fire, it's not even hot enough to melt adamantine.

That just means we need more thermite.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Or, failing that, anti-thermite. It will solve all our problems.
In a technical sense, yes, a pile of Anti-Thermite will render humanity free of problems.

And it will render humanity free of the rest of the world as well.

Are we retrospectively suggesting things they could've done that would've worked better?

I... see.

Stop posting in this thread. It should be dead, but everyon wants it to be My Weekend At Bernie's.

I appreciated the update, even if it is probably on CNN. No one honestly thought oil would just go away.

Hey, it's my thread.  If anyone wants to post relevant stuff, like a news article about the lingering effects of the oil spill, I encourage it.  It's a thread about an event that's not going away for a while.

Maybe you could at least change the thread title to "There was a Hole in the Bottom of the Sea".

Are you implying that BP paid you to troll these forums?

How do you interview for that?

You convince the interviewer that you really, honestly think that a katana can slice a tank in half and argue for at least an hour about it.
