I wholly support the nuking option. There simply has not been enough research into the effects of a nuclear explosion on several thousand gallons of oil surging upwards. I think the potential for success is amazing. Also, if a hurricane passes over the area then we should definitely nuke it, to also find out how nuking a hurricane in the center affects it.

As a Florida resident I am fully for the kill it with fire option.  I am willing to take the risk of a flaming oily death.  Apparently it is already being done small scale, sections of the slick are cut off from the rest then lit on fire.  Much of whats left sinks, and what doesn't isn't as harmful and is easier to work with.

Would it lessen my flaming sacrifice if I lived on the east coast of Florida instead of the west coast?   I would still probably get to see the fireball though.  But It would suck to be the guy who is told to drop the match into the slick and run.

According to NPR, the well is actually leaking closer to 50,000 gallons per day instead of the previously estimated 5000 gallons per day. Which is 1 Exxon Valdeez every 4 days (its now been about 2 weeks). Yeah, the east coast is pretty much boned at this point.
