I don't think you get it.  This perfect though.  We have a new way to prevent hurricanes - coat the ocean in a thin layer of oil.  It's the perfect shield.

Also, Transocean doesn't want to be charged for more than $27million.  That's grate.

If Transocean is going to be fined and this law is used, inflation should be accounted for. Anybody have a nifty inflation-accounting calculator that can account for the huge inflation in the almost 160-year old span between the law's passing and the oil spill?

What's this about the oil PREVENTING hurricanes?
If anything, it will increase the solar absorption of the ocean surface, leading to more energetic storms.

Oh, and if these Transocean tarballs think they can slink away with some technicality, I'm pretty sure it's time for vigilantism.

What kind of fire does that?  I want some for myself.  Kinda reminds me of when a welding-gas company in Dallas caught fire, and downtown looked like the bombing of Baghdad playing in reverse.

The oil prevents the hurricane from absorbing the moisture from the ocean, according to my newspaper that day.


And is that a tornado hitting a fire?  Holy crap that looks awesome.
