Injuries heal sooner or later, unless they get infected.  Plus sooner or later they tend to just get up and walk around, injured or not.

I dunno about that. I had a dwarf with a dented hand and foot, and he wouldn't heal, so he stayed in the hospital. I even deconstructed the bed, but he just wandered over to another bed. =/
