Cilobad has Fallen! D:
« on: May 10, 2010, 09:15:36 pm »

Okay, okay. So my first fort for the new version, has almost crumbled to its end. Everybody is dead, dying, or crazy, aside from my planter, who doesn't give a shit about people because he's generally underground, some kid who played in the underground, and a wounded legendary Armorer. I'm considering moving them to the underground farming area and sealing them in there with some food, booze, and whatever else they need. I'm considering just leaving the armorer, since his broken bones will never heal. =/

Any suggestions? It's a bit hard to get things to happen, cause everything is flipping out. I generally abandon, but I've grown attached to this fort.

If two of them are opposite sex and single, I vote you rebuild from nothing, sealed off from the surface.

...You realize that the child would end up looking at the planter as his parental figure, right? And that he would be 12 when they got relationship status?

My fort was doing quite well, with 70+ Dwarves, though, my military failed. So, I was attacked by a Forgotten beast, and a goblin seige. 30 of my dwarves died, and the goblins only ran away, due to dwarves from the caravan helping. So, mostly, its my fault that they died, because of my failure to understand the military, bugs, two mayors beating people up for not creating retarded items, and other things.

If you want the save uploaded, I could. I'm not an arcitectual genius though. =/

The fort ran for like 5 years though.

I'll keep trying to get those three dwarves sealed off, with some dogs or something. And I'm still looking for anybody who's not severely pissed off. =/

Also, If the child turns 12, and they have a child, at least they're of legal age. :'D

Edit: Nevermind, DASLUT, the giant feathered mouse spawned underground, and walked through my only open space, and is now killing everything he sees.

The child probably would not actually see the child as a father. Relationships between dwarves don't seem to update retroactively.

Where can I upload my save?

I've locked the main fort, had a wave of migrants, and DASLUT is currently chilling out in my armory. All but 3 of the original dwarves are still there. One is dying in the hospital, one is stark raving mad, and the other is a stoneworker, who I think was part of the original 7.

An update, if anybody cares.

Another seige came, while trying to wall in Daslut, two parties of like.. 10 Goblins all with insane mounts rushed into my fort and are now slaughtering everybody. Along with Trolls, elk birds and naked mole dogs attacking from the underground.

If they don't survive, then it looks like I've got a fun adventure on my hands, killing everything evil in the fort. :D

EDIT: Daslut died, he has toxic blood though. So all of my dwarves livers are rotting.

I'm interested in updates, fyi.  I like hearing about failing forts and trying to save them.

Oh, thanks. ^^

Well, all of my dwarves died, a goblin Axe Lord came into the hospital and murdered all of the remaining dwarves in their sleep.

I took an adventurer there to try and take the fort back, I killed off a lot of monsters. Trolls, Crundles, Elk birds, etc. Then I killed 7 of the goblins, and two of their trolls. Though the Goblin Axe lord that was with them killed me in one blow, mostly by hitting my false rib, and impaling my heart, causing pretty much instant death.

I'm trying to decide if I should attempt a reclaim, or another adventurer.

You should seal yourself off from the outside world next time, or just turn off invaders.

The only problem I have is that an injured dwarf is refusing to hold still for surgery. She keeps getting up and eating/drinking in the middle of it.  >:(

Well, I don't really turn things off, aside from Weather and Temperature, sometimes to save FPS, mostly cause I feel that its more of a whole-game feel that way. Though, I'm considering doing a new fort all together, mostly cause I want to edit somethings, to get shells available into my game. Besides, with roof sun, I only get 25ish FPS anymore anyways. But it was the most fun I've had with a fort in a long time.

Never give up on an injured dwarf.

In 40d I had a baby injured shortly after their birth with red injuries on both hands.  After her mother died she spent several years crawling pathetically about the fortress and thankfully not falling into any ponds, before growing to a child and being put in bed.  She actually recovered before she became a peasant.

I've also had a military dwarf recover from a fractured skull.  Faster, I might add, than the guy in the bed next to him has recovered from his broken thumb.
