Why so? More wealth means more migrants.
More migrants means we have more laborers.
More laborers means more stuff get done.

I need more miners...

Edit: The mason FINALLY died.

I look at it this way,  As soon as I strike the earth I usually have a stonecrafter going,  Meaning by the first wagon I have enough to trade for enough food to last, In that time I get the individual rooms built for the starting seven and make about 13 more,  I get most stuff set up on the first few Z levels and try to get everything stable,  By year 2 I have about 40 dwarfs just from regular migrations (about 4-6 each migraint wave every other season)  Making it so I have to scramble to make sure I have enough living space for everyone.

I'm not pro I get too much on my plate and bam im dead in the water trying to keep enough food/drink produced to keep everyone happy.

If only they could be tamed and use for war-pets.  Pit a werewolf against a werewolf (Wich you could do anyway, I think they kill each other, I had some unexplained dead creatures the other day)

Food and drink problem solved.

We somehow have 563 food and 1310 drink.
Not to mention 963 seeds.

Priority: Make stockpiles for everything and make a bunch of beds.

The fey bowmaker has claimed a bowyer's workshop.
Also, I have begun smelting some ores to begin training up our armorer and weaponsmith.

As for the military, it still is very weak. We need to forge them some weapons, and get them to train.

Edit: He grabs one log and begins a mysterious construction...

This is very tricky, trying to set up the forges now...

We also caught a fox in the cage traps. Score 2.

Is it possible to build a magma forge/smelter over a floor grate that is directly above lava?

I dont see why not, Usually I'd jst floor off the magma, (or you could turn it all into obsidian and channel out the squares you want to be magma again? Idk how that works.)

As far as I know, that obsidian method would not work.
Trying out the floor grate method.

And, I have to go in about half an hour or less. Not sure. So, I'm saving and am going to upload.

Floor grates don't work, you can't build on built things. Just put the impassible tiles of the furnaces and forges over the magma.

Edit: Without further ado, I will continue.

How did he knock down a construction?

I'm planning on building a cage trap down there so that we can catch him...
