So, after my gem cutters produced the Xtieth Perfect Tiger Iron, and I summarily hit my head on the desk, I had a revelation! Have you ever, playing a dungeon crawling game, came upon a legendary artifact upraised upon a pedestal?

Pedestals would be built as furniture at a carpenter's workshop, a mason's workshop, or a metalsmith's forge, and can be decorated just like any other piece of furniture. They can then be built, again, like any other piece of furniture. Then, once built, you assign a single Finished Good to be displayed atop it to add its worth to the room-- finally, a use for those artifact gems and figurines!

Also, the pedestal, once built, should be able to be assigned as a Room, a museum, functioning much like a statue garden.

Finally, I thought that a pedestal could be hooked up via mechanisms to traps and such-- if any thief tries to grab the artifact, they'd trigger traps just like in Indiana Jones (though, regrettably, you probably wouldn't be able to have the victim have to run down a corridor or be smashed by an enormous perfectly round boulder. You could link it to a ring of spike traps around the object though!

Yes. Clearly a bug that ought to be fixed in the future, but exploit it in the meantime.

While I appreciate you taking time to make this suggestion

It is unfortunately to inform you that Pedestals an Museums have both been suggested many times before.

In fact boobytrapping a Pedestal by allowing it to be linked like a switch has also been suggested.

What? Curses. Even going back several pages I couldn't find any.

May I ask what was wrong with the other propositions? Why they were shot down?

It requires using the Search feature (hey, look at that, top of every page).  And knowing how to spell "pedestal" or at least looking for "museum".

If you can wrestle the Search thing into working, more power to you. It never seems to work for me.

You go to the suggestions forum and type a word and hit "search."  Best things to type would be the major noun of your suggestion (properly spelled, of course).
