It just got really frustrating, I mean I can survive on my farms and my breeding dogs, With help from caravans of course, but with no fish I was hoping to at least hunt,  But alas nothing out there.

Breeding livestock is more sustainable than hunting in the long run: I've taken to always including a bull and a cow in my embark (more cows if I can afford it), and then using any bulls that are born for food and any cows for more breeding stock. You get a lot more meat per animal now (and edible organs as well), so within a year or two you should be comfortably able to feed even a full size fortress.

There are some genetics about size and fatness, so if you only keep 'gigantic' cows and bulls then you'll get gigantic offspring as well which means more meat when you butcher them.

Lack of fish is a known problem that should be corrected in the next version.  I always go somewhere with temperate, heavily forested type places, so I always see the same types of animals.

Ok thanks everyone,  It seems I'm one of the  unlucky few with this problem,  AS such its a totally liveable problem so ima drop it now ^^ Ty for yalls help in understanding this.
