Raw Problem

I have made minor modifications to the raws (okay, not so minor..) and they do not seem to take effect. Even three worlds later. Any ideas?

Well, what did you do to them? What are you trying to do? There's no excuse for it not showing up if it was done properly.
and are you sure you didn't modify the right file in the wrong place? It could make all the difference in those worlds.

I added reactions in the smelter which aren't showing up, and added No_eat no_sleep no_drink to my dwarves to make them working machines for a possible mega project.

Did you add the reactions to the entity_default.txt?

Put this in the dwarf section:
[PERMITTED_REACTION:your reaction]

Did you want to mod a game in progress? And if so, did you edit the raws file in the DF folder, or the raws file in the save folder?

There, uh, should be an error log (errorlog.txt, in the base folder) that tells you everything that's screwing up, if there's anything actually screwing up. If you've got the no_eat etc stuff in the appropriate raw file, it should work just fine. Do it all th'time myself.

Also, if you're using DF2010, you need to modify the raw files found in a given world's save folder, as raws are now stored individually for each world (allowing multiple mods to be used in a single copy of DF).

Well, I got the smelter bit to work. Still can't get my dwarf bit (no_eat, no_sleep, no_drink) to work, though. Halp?

Post the dwarf entry from your modified raw in spoilers.

I've never tried checking:  Does DF care about capitalization in tags?  Try capitalizing your no_x and speed tags.
