So, I got interested in playing the game. From what I've seen I should probably skip the base game entirely and get grab the stand alone expansion when it goes on promotion. Is that correct?

Yes. Ignore the game in the title, get Fallen Enchantress.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

They're even going to stop sales of WoM when FE comes out.

Bit problematic when the OP is a ghost, we can't change the title.

Awh, but that means no more insulting the original game!

Yeah, I can live with that.

From the sounds of things, you can just insult Fallen Enchantress instead...

I think what's probably going to end up happening here is that they doubled down on some bad decisions.  If you want to make a good game you probably shouldn't base it on the corpse of a bad one.

So we can double down on the insults!  Yay!

But seriously, if Fallen Enchantress is lousy, it will probably mark the end of Stardock.  Not that I personally mind, but I imagine some would be upset to see them die.

If you want a rather in-depth preview of FE you can read one here: http://www.spacesector.com/blog/2012/08/elemental-fallen-enchantress-hands-on-beta-preview/

You can also find several let's play videos posted on YouTube.

I don't think Stardock is likely to die. Pull out of the games business? Maybe.

Yeah, I forgot gamemaking isn't Stardock's main revenue source.  Which probably means they can afford to lose more money in the game industry than most, so they probably have a while before they have to stop even making games.

Not all of Stardock's games are crappy.  Some have had very bad design decisions; but the older ones are still nice, nad have strong followings still.

I honestly can't think of a good game they've put out.
