All of this has been covered in this post before.  Just going over the same ground is a bit more boring the second or third, or fifth time I've read it all.  ::)
So sorry to have bored you, but I'm not here to entertain you with my posts.

"In the Elemental expansion, you'll be able to build an entire city by hand, brick by brick. You'll be able to reach into the minds of NPCs and joyride along as they live out a fully simulated life, complete with emotes, hackneyed English fantasy accents, and scenes as close to porn as you can get in a AAA game without actually getting aroused. Your faithful pet dog will be a fully playable character with their own love interests, and you can marry them to other factions to create your own hybrid dog-faction."

Meanwhile, I've downloaded 1.07 SKIDROW. Let's see how this patch plays. The list of "fixes" is quite good, it's something I would expect from a mod maker for some Civilization 4 mod in a week, so it looks like we're heading somewhere.

Heh, let me know if it's worth the time. As it is, I'm with the crowd that's more amused by Elemental: Brad's Meltdown than that mediocre strategy game they rushed out.

I've played it, it's more stable (had no crashes), runs smooth and has a lot of obvious problems fixed. Still shallow as it was, but at least better now.

I now know why I am not amuzed. All this micromanagement which leads to nothing (units with specific equipment down to boots and gloves which you have to move around A LOT but have to disband in the end because you can't change their hat) is quite sad. Also the combat is not better than old good HOMM, so there's nothing new too. And probably the bad AI does it too. I literally know when and how to research and to build my warriors to take over any AI on "hard". There's no replay value IMHO, not a lot of things are randomized. Civ4 had much longer research trees and more stuff to do.

I just saw the ending for sandbox games.  Lame.

It has a picture of a castle with the camera moving closer to it, then it gives a blurb with paragraph aftermath based on victory condition, and a score.  No fireworks, song was kinda flat, no credits, whole thing took less than a minute.

"You win, good job" would have been cooler if it was sparkily and such.

EDIT: Do note that I totally cheaped out to see the ending.  Custom map that was an incredibly small island, vs one foe.  But still.

lol the empire has one of the most overpowered summons in the game. by the time you reach spell level 3 (very quickly if you bee-line straight for it) you can cast the spell summon spy to get a reskin of the familair that casts a spell that hits the entire battle field for 10 points of unresistible damage. it only costs 5 mana to summon one and if you've been imbuing all of your heroes like me you'll be able to roll around in a death squad of 5-6 of those things and that's before your magic babies grow up into magic adults.

if you have enough grown up children and imbued heroes you can get like ten of those things and deal 100 damage to every enemy on the map before they even get their first turn. once you unlock companies and lord hammers you don't have to fear anything ever again.

brad couldn't nail down the good parts of MoM so he had to settle for the buggy and unbalanced part  :D

It's in the 50's on metacritic. Hi-five to nenjin. Thank god I was able to get a refund since it didn't work on my computer anyways.

I care not what anyone else has to say, or if anyone whines or bitches or goes out of their way to critize; or bloody hell, even if you're a fan of the entire ordeal: Brad Wardell has the BALLS to stand up for what he believes in, and I like that.

Here's the link to the newest Dev Journal straight from the big man himself. Enjoy.

He does not only have balls, he also has no conscience or no rational thinking :D.

Quote
Q: What is Stardock’s plan for Elemental going forward?

A: For the immediate future we’re going to go down two paths. First, the v1.0x versions will continue to focus largely on compatibility (crashing or weird video issues) as well as bugs and turning on multiplayer.

Then, we will work on v1.1 which will serve as our answer to player feedback. Enhanced AI, improved UI, a tutorial, updated quest system, new magic system, numerous other tweaks. This version will serve as the basis to make a demo version of the game.

Beyond that, we will be looking at player feedback. That will work towards v1.2 (October) and v1.3 (November). Once we are satisfied that the game has met reasonable expectations, we can then focus on the first expansion pack: Elemental: War of Magic – Book 2, Cerena.

Unlike Book 1, which is fairly short because it’s only meant as a kind of introduction (the game is mean to be played in sandbox mode. GalCiv and Sins of a Solar Empire didn’t even include campaigns, we are generally not very pro-campaign-y people as you can gather, campaigns have limited replayability).

Book 2, Cerena is the excuse to introduce more far reaching game mechanic changes and begin to add in the multiplayer modes we have long been thinking of (from custom servers that yes, will work on your LAN that has no Internet connection) to tactical-only modes.

That first expansion pack will be free to everyone who owns the game at the point of v1.3.
And look. Where's the multiplayer? At the end. Although Brad told us "that it is ready and team needs some work", I can quote it if you want.

It means that he's a big liar again. We saw it a lot of times. Well, it's his own reputation, I don't really rage about that, it just starts to be funny :).

The fact that they WORK on the game still shows that they have a chance to make it a great way, so I won't judge them.
