green glass monster

Just got a forgotten beast made of green glass.

I suppose i've got to seal off the cavern layer the critter is in?

That sounds like a fun one for the hammerdwarves. Very therapeutic, I'd imagine. 'Crash!Tinkleclinkshatter'

That sounds prudent. See if you can set up bait and a cavein trap, and then open up the cavein area with a suicide dwarf.

The funniest part being a dwarf actually butchered the stupid thing.  Necrotic poison is the tastiest of spices.

What kind of body? If it's anything animal or humaniod(upper body, lower body and head) it should be easy to kill with an axe dwarf(send some with skill in axe and armor if you have anyone) with a metal weapon and armor. This is assuming that the glass isn't more durable than it should be.

This is a masterful image of your FPS and the HFS. The HFS is committing a depraved act on your FPS.

it does have various limbs, a few mandibles and a trunk. i was under the impression that creatures made of stuff like glass were unbeatable

If it has a head that can be removed, it can be killed. Barring bronze colossi, which are a lot bigger than beasts or titans I thought.

There is an engraving of three dwarves in a dining room. The third dwarf is a soaper.

I once saw a dwarf punch a creature made out of salt to death in one hit. Just make sure it isn't a blob.

Yeah, if it's not a single-bodied FB, he should be killable. No clue what the strength of glass is though, unless I'm missing something, it might be hardcoded. So can't tell you if he's a pushover or not.

I guess I'll have to fight it and find out...

Perhaps I should have taken note of the spoiler warning. What's a forgotten beast, and how can they be made of glass?

I think they're normal creatures that were mutated, or something like that. they tend to live in the cavern systems, and they can be nmade out of anything, from water to mist to adamantium.

also, they can sometimes be unkillable, such as when one is made of nothing but a body and a pair of wings

A forgotten beast is a unique enemy, appearing in natural caverns (do you know about those?), generated randomly from various materials/body shapes/abilities and posing various levels of danger to your fortress - this can range from "lol my wrestler is punching it's appendages off" to "oh my god, my elite hammerdwarves can't even slow it down". Some of them die quite easily, some of them are (as you've probably figured out by now) unkillable except for totally overkill techniques like the magma+water (also called "you are now a statue good sir enjoy your day") method.

So we got monsters above, monsters below, dwarves in the middle and a party in the dining hall. Sounds good to me.
If all else fails, remember one thing:  kittens are delicious, nutritious little goblin-baiters, cavern explorers, and ambush-finders.

Ah, thanks. And yes, I know about those. Forgotten beasts sound BA.
