Generally the top level of adamantine is safe. The other levels get progressively less so. You can go all the way down to the lowest level as long as you only take from the edges and don't touch any that could conceal a 2x2 hole.

Wasn't asking that, actually. I'm way too paranoid when mining for adamantine, so I'm not going to breach anything I couldn't unbreach in three different ways using various levers.

EDIT: Whoa! Joshua was just elected mayor. Guess you shouldn't have been making stupid mandates, huh Brak? HOW DOES YOUR SHAME TASTE?

The worst thing about breaching Hell isn't the demons themselves, but the consequences of blocking them off - a horde of demons all unsuccessfully trying to path into your fortress can be a real bitch on FPS. So better to just scrape the beauties off the side of the vein.

So we got monsters above, monsters below, dwarves in the middle and a party in the dining hall. Sounds good to me.
If all else fails, remember one thing:  kittens are delicious, nutritious little goblin-baiters, cavern explorers, and ambush-finders.

Yeah, the hellpipe within is 2x2, so just don't mine out any that could be concealing it. There are always little branches of safety on each level of the vein.

One of the kids made a boring artifact. Goblin-cap sceptre I believe.

Oh and more forgotten beasts. Fuck this site AND EVERYONE IN IT.

EDIT:
THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING

He has innate mayoral authority. It is in his genes, in his bones, in his blood, a part of his very being. He is mayordom incarnate, so simple voting process can change this.

Apparently so. And making babies like crazy. Just popped another one, bringing the total number of dwarves to 25.

This has potential to reach Boatmurdered heights of fame and epicness.

Boatmurdered heights eh? Shouldn't that be Boatmurdered depths?

Actually, there are some similarities, aren't they? Maybe this is Boatmurdered from the viewpoint of the drugged up nobles, wallowing in their own decadance while everyone else is pulped by monsters. A Spiritual Successor - "Boatmurdered 2: This time it's skeletal"

Deep Spark
grave of a thousand forgotten beasts

I have absolutely no idea what's going on in this fort any more. Migrants arrive, they die for some reason, the fort is flooded for another reason, then dwarves go mad, more dwarves die and I'm just laughing in my distress.
