Is this new?
« on: May 08, 2010, 11:17:15 am »

I just lost a fort to a siege and the gobbos were riding creatures that were building destroyers.  Are moats a necessity for everywhere?

My understanding is that yes it is new to this version as compared to the previous version.  I cannot speak for changes since 2d.

Yes, never encountered that in 40d.

What, pray tell, were they riding?

I've had that happen, but the creatures they were riding were generally weak.

I've had humans siege, and the leader arrives on a horse (and the horse is listed as an Invader!)

They were riding all sorts of nasty evil things .. giant cave crawlers, cave alligators, and other things i didn't know what they really were.  The siege had 3 groups of ten, one of gobbo lashers, one of trolls, one of gobbos riding interesting things.

*regrets decision to play the new version until some bugs are fixed* When 31.04 comes out I am making a long-lasting fort!

Ooooh, so trolls are finally back in?

Interesting.

I can never get to a siege without nobles dieing and the fort being ruined before :(
I guess I'll just turn all my noble's labors off and have then stay at the meeting hall

Oh yes. Axe lord just took down two trolls in my most recent siege.

This actually seems to be a good thing, as trolls are weaksauce and seem to be 'weighted' more than goblins, killing 7 goblins out of 20 wouldn't make them run usually (right?), but I killed 5 goblins and 2 trolls and the surviving 13 took off.

True, but at a certain velocity the resulting explosion expels invader-bits at fatal speeds. You don't want to be dropping trogdolyte-shaped shrapnel bombs into your boneworks.

To make matters worse, gobbos can come with FLYING mounts too. I think at least one kind can also destroy buildings... making for many fun times indeed.

^ I see Cacame has been teaching the goblins a thing or two (the more glorious to make their defeat, of course).

my first siege was 8 trolls, 12 lashers, and another large squad of macegoblins.  All the goblins were mounted on building destroyers, giant olms and cave beasts.
