Hmmm...That could make a good toy for dwarf children too. They could play with them to practice their building skills. And making a road with them would be a great way to tick off any nearby elves!

I second this, for the same reason. Aquifer maps would become playable, assuming that screw pumps would allow deep mining on them. Which I don't know because I can't find stone with which to try out screw pumps.

You can get stone blocks from caravans, but you shouldn't have to wait two years.  I've trying to pump out an aquifer but I'm not sure its even possible  :(

I tend to think the solution ought to be walling a shaft and then pumping out that shaft. Walling a shaft on that level is probably hard to impossible as it stands though.
