Both those are great artifacts because you can build them for room value. Give that bed to a dwearf that likes basalt and he''l almost worship it.

For this, I killed an entire wing of my fort with magma floods just to make sure he was dead. The barrel survived though, damn haulers are quick. For the record, it is currently full of plump helmets.

Yet another kid stricken with a woodcraft exception. A larch harp this time. The value may be higher than bonecraft artifacts, and in fact higher than any metalcraft artifacts so far, but the value of a Legendary Woodcrafter? Meh, I wish I could cage him and sell him to the elves.

Isn't that rather like selling the golden goose? Why not have him make a hundred *wooden figurine*s and offer those instead?

What's golden about a woodcrafter? My first legendary make a 4500 lead piece of junk, but now we're sitting on enough electrum masterworks to buy the world several times over. I don't even bother hauling it all to depot anymore. The guy is pretty much retired, with bars still in reserve in case some noble has a request.

Besides, I'd rather put my wood into steel-making, beds, barrels and bins. Much more utility value than the  market price would ever bring.

No but it'd make the crafter unhappy if his masterwork bolts get stuck in a creature and they get taken off the map.

I already have tons of masterwork bone and silver bolts. They've fallen into magma a few times, but the makers have been prolific enough that it hardly phases them. Even though bone crafts are worth even less, they're a much more renewable resource, with few other uses. Woodcrafts couldn't never be worth as much as the fuel, beds and storage containers are, so my legendary woodcrafters all get to be haulers for life.
