While playing Kobold Camp, one of my kobolds made a wooden bucket with a name in the goblin language. It was some horrifying death name (Can't remember what it was) so I dug a pit, dropped it in, sealed it up, and never saw it again. I think it was cursed, because we ran out of fish, ran out of meat, ran out of plants and got murdered by elves, all within a year after it.

Just got another one. Weaponsmith mood, first thing she grabs is the adamantine. YES! Then aqumarines, GCS cloth, voracious cave crawler leather and dolomite. This is gonna be epic!

...

Kumil Athelsanad has created Kumil Athelsanad, a adamantine--

--BUCKET?

BUCKET?

but--but--I--you--weaponsmith--

*checks preferences*

"...likes backpacks, buckets..."

Someone's got a pressing appointment cleaning the magma channels under my forges. >:(

Then again maybe it's her way of telling me I need a well.

Edit: having checked it's actually a pretty cool bucket. Image of itself in adamantine, image of a Hydra striking down a human (local history of my glacier), image of a dwarf striking down a goblin. The dwarf is the leader of my secondary hammerdorf squad and is wielding an artifact iron warhammer I got earlier on, called The Scribe of Slowing.

However, it is still a bucket.

I need a well first, and it'll require some engineering since I'm on a glacier and my caverns are also very dry (there's one teeeeeeeny landlocked pool of water in Cavern 3). It's a good idea though. Maybe I'll collapse some ice or something.

Still annoyed I didn't get a weapon though.

I'm usually pretty excited with whatever my dorfs make....but this was pretty upsetting.

Losisumstiz, Faintsizzle, a gabbro floodgate
This is a gabbro floodgate. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is encircled with bands of gabbro. This object menaces with spike of gabbro. On the item is an image of a rat in gabbro.

I knew i had lots of gabbro in my fort but i thought he would grab SOMETHING else!

P.S. first post for me!

Probably de first self-consumming artifact ever produced by a dwarf. At least, it doens't need any fuel to work other than itself.

Joyous... right? Guess the genious behind it had a nice sense of humour.

The adamantine bucket is probably better than an adamantine weapon, because it will definitely make an incredible well, whereas an adamantine weapon may not make that much difference.

I'm trying a well planned and organised fort this time - inspired by the random gen'ed name "Drunkenbridge" I planned for a bridge, and it led from there.

First moody dwarf was a possession, at the same time as 25 migrants appearing on the other side on the major river.  Anyway, in the confusion, he grabbed a leatherworks, two bolts of leather, and made....

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It sets the tone of the fortress perfectly...

You can build adamantine weapon in a weapon trap.

And I could go back and take the adamantine weapon as an adventurer, which is really what I was hoping for.

Although now I think about it, maybe I won't build the bucket into a well. I have a sudden hankering to create an adventurer who beats monsters to death with a bucket...

A blatantly cheap, yet impossible artifact.
A slugman bone right gauntlet. No decoration at all. Just a gauntlet. Made from slug bones. Which don't exist. Riiiggghhht....
