Something within my mind clicks and I react before realizing it. I dive to the side, rolling up behind some cover as bullets whiz by above me. A man in a trench yells and I sprint from cover, diving into the trench and tucking into a roll to cushion the landing. I see an old Springfield rifle leaning against the wooden bulwark and snatch it up, along with some spare ammunition.

I poke my head above the trench, looking out over the warzone.

The man who spoke before turns to me and says...

What does he say?

"Ya the new 'Evolutionary soldiers' that them scientists been talking about? Well, you ain't shit to me unless you prove your worth.

My last sniper was killed by a counter-sniper, I need you to bring this rifle and ammo to that man there *He points towards a trench around 57 feet forward*

A normal person could not run it fast enough, I expect you to use your 'evolutionary advantage' and get that damn sniper rifle to him so we can get some damn sniper support!"

Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.

A glowing image appears in your vision: It is a crude diagram of a running figure: 'Think 'Operation 9' to increase speed', says the accompanying text.

I look at the distance to be covered. This is insane...

I go anyway.

Operation 9

My legs tingle as implants inject a cocktail of chemical and begin to hyper-saturate my blood with oxygen. I drop into a crouch, clutching the weapon and ammunition, and then launch into a sprint.

I cover the distance in seven leaping bounds, much to the amazement of my onlookers. It seems the genetic accelerant is at work as well.. I come to a skidding halt in a muddy trench and lean heavily against the wooden bulwark, holding the package out to the sniper. I am breathing too hard to respond when he thanks me, but I nod to him and then take a position on the line.

I lean against the trench wall, my rifle ready and my helmet pulled low over my eyes to present the smallest possible profile. I see an enemy soldier move in the trench nearby and I take a shot. I don't know if I hit him, but the movements stops.

Just then there is a rumbling sound, and the ground begins to shake. The packed earth between our two trenches begins to split and deform upwards. Something is emerging from underground...

What happens next?

A computer voice says: "ERROR 17, escaped test subjects in holding 3, recommend immediate evacuation from facility."

The battleground disappears and a man runs and knocks on the door and says; "You too! Get out of here!" And then runs off.

(Aw, why? Can't we spend a little more time in training? We just entered 5 minutes ago, and you want us not only to leave it, but also the entire building? If we leave now, the plot will not be advancing, but backtracking.
I urge you to reconsider; let us fight some WWI era mole-tank, it is about time for a boss battle)

(Veto what? And what kind of ideas? Do those ideas involve us battling a WWI mole tank? If so I approve!)

(I veto the dude who interrupted the sim. The idea involves tamed Cthulhuids and blowing up tanks, eating men and being awesome.)

I have absolutely no idea what's going on in this fort any more. Migrants arrive, they die for some reason, the fort is flooded for another reason, then dwarves go mad, more dwarves die and I'm just laughing in my distress.

(Very well, I'll veto Tarran's post for now. I may use it later. Post what you'd like to happen in the sim then.)

I hear a boom as mortars begin to shell the muddy earth. I am thrown back by the force of one shell, but luckily, I am not hurt. My ears ring and my head spins, but I manage to get up. When the dust settles, I see a huge metal... thing lumbering across the battlefield. I recognize it as a tank, and i duck into a crater. I pull out a flare grenade, and signal the handlers to let loose their charge, a Thrasher. I hope that the huge, bull-like reptiles can destroy the tank.
