Animals pathing through lever-operated doors?
« on: May 06, 2010, 10:28:48 pm »

So I'm in the preliminary planning stage for a Animal Assisted Borg Logic dwarfputer (IGL flopped due to the impossibility of making NOT gates). I decided that to save on FPS, the OFF switch woudl be a three stage deal that locked down all meeting ares in the gates, opened up a single tile meeting are for a while and then closed it, locking the animal in a one-tile space. However, I remember reading that animals will attempt to continuously path through pet-impassable doors, lowering FPS as they are constantly canceling path. If this is true, does the same apply for lever/pressure plate activated doors?

True, but at a certain velocity the resulting explosion expels invader-bits at fatal speeds. You don't want to be dropping trogdolyte-shaped shrapnel bombs into your boneworks.
Only in Dwarf Fortress...

animals attempt to path through pet-impassible doors (that dwarves can still go through), but not fully locked or mechanically closed ones.
